Pacemaker renew

I'm am due to have another pacemaker fitted, in a year or two..
I've had my pacemaker in for 6 years.
I was wondering the recovery time for it, and is it the same when you first get it implanted...?

I agree with TraceyE. I had my pacer replaced 3 mo ago and was a bit worried about the process. I went in, had the procedure, went to recovery and was home for a late lunch. I only took one pain pill. If they do not mess with the leads, you will be up and doing your regular activities with in 2 days. After one week, I was on a plane heading off to have some fun. The was no comparison between the first and second implant. I wish you well, dreams.

MUCH easier

Unless there's a problem with the leads, they only replace the pm itself. They put it in the same pocket so it's all scar tissue and we don't have any of the restrictions to protect the leads like we did when they were new. If the first is a 10, I'd say a replacement is a 3 or 4.
