Relocating Pacer

Originally had pacer in my upper right chest (usual location). Then in 2006 I had to have it relocated to abdomen due to need for right breast cancer radiation. Now the pacer is wearing down. Where should it be placed?

Has anyone had experience in relocating pacer? What about all the leads, etc? What about changing models from St. Jude to a German model?

Experiences, please?
thanks.

Location

Unless you are having problems with the current location there is really no reason to move the pacer. The location has no effect on its operation as a pacemaker. The only reason for moving it would be physical discomfort or infection. The replacement would certainly be the easiest and least painful if you can reuse the same pocket.

As for changing the make of the pacer you could go either way. The advantage to replacing it with the same make and similar model is that they can use the same settings on the new one. This avoids having to go through several tweeks again to get things optimum.
