Reocurring SVT

Hi all,

Its nice to meet others with the same issues as myself.. I have a few questions. I am a 24 year old female otherwise healthy, with Sick Sinus Syndrome and SVT. I had my dual chamber Medtronic pacer placed Dec 2015. For my SVT i've had a total of 3 AV node ablations all within a year, as well as some medication changes, (Metoprolol, Cardizem, Multaq, And am currently taking Metoprolol and Rhythmol twice a day as of right now.)

I saw my EP today, who interrogated my pacer and noticed since my last visit in October I've had 438 episodes of SVT. He suggested a 4th ablation, or Trying another medication called Tikosyn (which would involve a 3 day stint in the hospital for initiation). I agreed to a 4th ablation, as i didnt want to stay 3 + days in the hospital. But im having second thoughts, as this would make my fourth ablation all within a year(last one was in Sept.)

I've made a few appointments with the Mayo clinc, as well as Mount Sinai, and New York Pres. I was wondering if any one of you guys, are or have experienced the same problems as i am currently having, and if you have, what relieved it or what could be done. My EP is kinda at a loss for words, and is unsure of what to do. He said that my AV node makes its own electrical outputs, so when he goes to ablate one another one pops up which is causing my problems. I asked if maybe my leads are making my heart sensitive which would cause me to go into SVT. but he disaggreed and said tha wasnt the issue.

I'm kind of just thinking of not getting the ablation or trying the new meds, and trying to just live my everyday life with this, as nothing is helping my situation... Any input you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your time and support,

Ashley :)

Seek out another opinion

You should definitely seek out another opinion before having 4th ablation and make sure you actually have SVT. It is common to have few episodes of SVT within the 3 month post ablation also called the blanking period, but having had 3 ablation + a pacemaker and still having svt is quite unusual. What type of svt do you have?

Atrial tachycardia I'm assuming? I don't have any issues with my ventricle
