Hi all
Following my dual lead pacemaker insertion I did not think I would need to take Flecainide 100mg twice daily
is anyone else also taking this? It has nasty side effects for me
thanks x

Depends on what you need meds for!

Many people who have pacemakers do not need meds, it depends if you have a condition that may need meds regardless of having a pacemaker. I have high blood pressure and cholesterol and have to take meds for those. Even if I didn't have a pacemaker I would have to take them.
Good Luck and Good Health to You.

Hi Noomin
i believe flecainide is similar to a drug called amiodarone, prescribed for me here ( in u.k) to treat abnormal heart rhythms, but it has very nasty side effects and damaged the thyroid gland.
My cardiologist has stopped the amiodarone, as hopefully the pacemaker is helping to regulate the abnormal rhythm and I feel much better, so I think it would be a very good idea to ask your doc for a drug review!
Doctors are not pharmacists so don't always realise how this things can make you feel! Good luck and best wishes to to you ❤️

Hi noomin
my amiodarone was also prescribed for atrial fibrillation, no longer taking it since I had the pacemaker. Why not ask the doc if you can have drug review?
no use having new pacemaker if drug makes you feel rotten! Best wishes ❤️

Hi ,
I also had a dual lead pacemaker fitted 2 weeks ago recovery is going well I'm 45. I have Trifascicular block and Paroysmal atrial fibrilation I also take 100mg of Flecainide twice a day. I'd be interested to know what your side effects are? It makes me feel tired so I take it at 3pm and before I go to bed. I'm seeing my cardiologist in a few weeks time so will mention alternatives or stopping altogether I've only been taking it for a couple of weeks so may take time for body to adjust.

A change in Meds

Its very likely that your meds will have to be changed with the addition of a PM . Collar your doctor and FORCE him to make changes .. who needs side affects .. doctors can be lazy and uncommunicative at times ..
