Pacer replacement gone bad

Follow up on previous post about developing staph infection when pacer was replaced on Jan 3 2017

Hi all

well it looked like the antibiotic was going to work then it went down hill, I am now going in in for a removal which involves the laser removal of the leads. The infection was looking good but in last 4 days started getting worse. So now I am going into surgery tentative date Monday . So far the site is only very red and swollen but not very tender, no pain we are 32 days into the antibiotic treatment. Starting to show signs of possible pus build up. A side line to this I am wondering about. Dec I 2015 while cycling I was hit direct in rear by a truck doing at least 50mph, should have been killed but somehow survived, the right leg had a major rip about 6inch from the dirty old chain ring, broke out teeth on ring and took out pieces of tibia. A infection later was major and we fought for about 3 mo. I am wondering if this could be related a/ research shows that yes it can take that long to show up but rare. Among other injuries was a ruptured artery in body cavity 9 broken bones. Just a thought, doesn't effect action now but wondered anyone have any similar experience with late onset infection? Can't ride anymore but do hike in Mts a lot. Coming up on 82 yr.

So sorry to hear this. Good luck!!!!!!

I believe that once we get staph, that we always carry it so it can flare up again.

You've had a rough time!

When fighting inflammation/infection, extra vitamin C is always a good idea. Not being a doctor, I can't prescibe, but if it were me, I'd be taking 5,000 to 10,000 mg spread over 24 hours until the infection was cleared up.

It sounds like a huge amount, but  integrative medicine doctors give much larger doses IV. The body just eliminates any vitamin C it can't use, so you can't overdose.

Hope you're better soon.
