New Pcemacker

I am a 52 year old male thar two years ago thought he was healthy till feb 9, 2016. Since then I have had 5 Catheterization’s and 4 stents implanted in my  mid LAD. I’ve had 3 blockages over 80% due to scar tissue restenosis. During the last 20 months I have had an irregular heart beat that dr thought were due to blockages or medicine. After my last stent on dec 22. They implanted a loop monitor. Two weeks later they decided to give me a dual pacemaker.  This has been a crazy ride so far. I know it’s almost a week as of tomorrow but every once in a while I feel my heart doing crazy things I sometimes start to sweat a little. Not sure what it is and don’t want to get nervous and call the dr because I am not sure if it’s my emotions or is it something that is normal.

I've had pm's for 30 years.  If I had a new one placed and I felt my heart do crazy things I would call my cardiologist.

thank u

In recovery after a pacemaker implant, one week isn't long at all. Your body and your heart are still going through a lot of changes in the healing process, and your heart is adjusting being paced. I know 4 or 5 times is more than you want, but compared to how many times your heart beats in a week, it isn't that much.

Most likely, you'll go back in a week or so for your first pacemaker check. Be sure to mention what you've been experiencing. Keep a log, noting the times and how long the feeling lasted. They can check the device memory to see if anything was recorded. They also will likely turn down the voltage and possibly make other changes to your settings.

You don't say what the loop found that led to a pacemaker. That's information you need to have. The more you know about your condition and about what the pacemaker is expected to do to help, the better questions you will ask, the more respect you will get, and the more you'll be able to participate in your care.

The danger signs, as always, are chest pain and shortness of breath, plus any signs like redness, heat, pus, of infection. Any of those signal a need to get in touch with your doctor, immediately.

You can come back here anytime you have questions or just need a friendly ear. Welcome to the club.

Thank you

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
