New implant

Just had a his pacemaker put in on the 16th I was reading up on line and thought Inwould join up here.I think it’s good to have a support group with like people.

Im still sore but it’s finally gettIng  better

I had a low pulse resting around 40 but wasn’t aware of anything when my doc said I needed to get checked out.48 hour monitor showed dropped down to as low as 15 while sleeping so here I am!

I noticed the change for the better  right away.Just hoping to be able to get back to work next week and everything will be ok as I do a lot  of driving for work.

Driving for work

I am sure glad that the device is helping you.

You mentioned driving a lot.  I found that the seat belt irritated the area where  my device was implanted.  I tried a small pillow for some protection, but that was cumbersome.  I finally ordered two styles of soft protection cushions that attach under the seat belt strap and both work.

Best of luck!

What kind of PM did you get?? Great to hear you feel better so fast!! I am looking for people who may have the same implant as me, micra pace maker.

Thanks Jimmy I figured the belt would be an issue as it’s on my left side.I was thinking about making a cushion. Will look into getting those you mentioned !

Hi Lana.I got what is called a HIS pacemaker. It is newer I guess. There is one lead that goes to the HIS Which is the signal center for both sides of the heart. So the leads don’t have to go down into the heart itself. For my issue this was the best option and I understand not all doctors install these yet as it is a newer procedure. They say long term it’s better for the heart muscles. It is a Medtronic product.

My car has the satellite radio and synchs with my phone.  I'm thinking for those of us with pacemakers the next set of new cars with synch with your pacemaker.

Just think, won't let you drive if something is out of whack.  Or the car may drive you to the hospital if the pacemaker detects something.

Guess we've got something to look forward to.

HIS

Just want to clarify for the group what High Voltage is talking about....briefly  because this is a big topic.

HIS Bundle pacing has to do with placement of the wire connected to the pacemaker. It is not a different type of device. HIS bundle pacing can be done with any device. The thought process is that if you can successfully activate the HIS bundle via pacing, then long term effects of pacing the ventricle will be reduced. It has been  proven fact that unncessary pacing in the right ventricle is detrimental to the heart (DAVID study). The key word there is unnecessary. RV only pacing creates a sort of mechanical wobble to the heart, whereas if you can tap into the hearts own electrical road system, it is a more "normal" beat.

Not all physicians have bought into this technique yet, but it does seem to have some promising data.

Thanks Pacer Rep I could not explain it as well as you and what you say is exactly what my doctor told me

makes all the sense in the world to me and fortunate from a timing perspective to have it.

You know you're wired when...

You’re officially battery-operated.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
