Loose lead

Saturday my mom got her PM at age 80. Today she visited her Cardiologist because she wasn't feeling well.

Dr. said  one of the leads had gotten a little loose but nothing to be alarmed. He opted to monitor her closely and have a chest X-Ray to better see how loose the lead is. He also said surgery might not be necessary because these things can occur. 

I don't know. Will just have to wait for her chest X-Ray.

I had a pacemaker implanted May 24, 2018. Two weeks later during the follow-up visit with my doctor he said one lead was not working and he was upset about it. Four days later he had me in for "revision" surgery and replaced both leads. Bottom line: the leads are important and necessary for proper pacemaker functioning,

Yeah leads are important, but a "loose" lead may not be a big deal. Often it can self heal by scaring or they can increase the voltage to that lead to compensate.

A lead revision is far more dangerous than trying other things first and frankly insurance won't cover without evidence it can't be fixed without surgery.
