Heart palpitations after pacemaker

Good morning, first I would like to thank everyone for their posts and comments that have helped me so much in the last month. I had pacemaker put in 4 weeks ago for sick sinus syndrome(heart rate dropping randomly) in Anchorage Alaska. I have had to come to GA to help my dad who was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. I haven’t been for a device check yet. This week my heart rate is going up like crazy. I ended up at local ER yesterday and they told me to go to a cardiologist. The nurse even questioned why we weren’t calling one in but they didn’t. On the monitors it would go up to around 130( I had been in the bed for 4 hrs at this point) and then drop to 40. Of course my pacemaker was kicking in but no one can tell me why my heart rate is so high when I’m resting. My drs are in Alaska and I’m in GA so what can I do or where do I begin getting relief. I feel like my heart is beating out of my chest. 45 yr old female with Boston Scientific pacemaker. Thank you all

Hi Dee,

Welcome to the group. If you'd like the names of a really good EP and6 cardiologist in the Atlanta area, send me a message.

Thank you

thank you both. This helps as I was lost and so confused. I can’t just run right back to Alaska to see my dr. I’m waiting for a response from them now

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
