Surgery went well!

Hi All,
My surgery took no time at all and I was home pretty fast. It took about 20 mins. I had no medications and no IV at request as I didn't see a point. The IV hurts worse than them going through my neck and numbing it. Everything for now looks as good as it can be.
My vena cava is narrowed by 40% they said that if my pressure was above 5 they would need to do open heart and reconstruct the vena cava. My pressure was borderline but at t his time I will not need open heart but at some point I will. It could be some time though.
Thanks for all the thoughts.

Blessings,
Tammy

Hi Tammy, I noticed you were on this afternoon so it made me feel good as I thought you're doing OK.
Guess we're all happy to hear that your test was better than what you thought it could be. I did some research also as I could also be facing problems with blockage in the same area with 4 leads and also develop lots of scar tissue around PM pocket and leads. Now, Best Wishes and put some of your worries on the back burner for a while!! donb

That is great news! Did they discuss replacing your leads with epicardial ones? That would certainly keep any more scar tissue from forming and the surgery to place an epicardial pacemaker is much less invasive than an open heart surgery. Just a thought...

My blockage is almost 100%, my pressure is a 12 so you have a long way to go... great news! Another thing to consider is that your body creates what they call 'collateral drainage' to compensate for the pressure in the SVC; this can help relieve some of the symptoms. It does take time for the collateral to develop but it sounds like you do have some time. More good news! That with a possible 'relocation' of the PM... it sounds like you might avoid open heart surgery. Congratulations!
