Hello to all...your thought please..

Hi to all, wishing you all well. I have had my little tin box for two years now...and for me i am glad to report that it has generally been without incident. My pacemaker was put in for intermittant total heart block. The reason for my poorly put question is over the last four months i have been up and down physically, i have had time off work and have been feeling the pm taking over more often.Before pm I used to collapse about once every six months or soand have not done so since pm...untill last week not a full collapse but far to close to one for my liking...Went to tech EP who said the pm had recorded no events and as i was able to give her specific time said the pm did not kick in......i am confused. When you faint/collapse your heart rate drops .....what happened??? chippy

A drop in blood pressure rather than heartrate could cause collapse, and the pm can't do anything about bp. If the pm didn't record an event, then whatever happened wasn't low hr because a pm will not let your heart dip below the lower limit, ever. It could have also been blood sugar, dehydration, lots of things can cause it other than a low hr.

It would be very unusual to feel it kicking in.

above, you need to go to your PCP (primary care provider) & discuss your stressful symptoms with him/her. Good luck on finding out whats goiung on & getiing it fixed.

Hi.

I too feel like I'm going to collapse, faint, near faint, whatever you wanna call it on occasion.

However, I was told that these episode are not recorded by MY pacemaker because my pacemaker only records when my heart goes over my upper limit which is set at 140. Mine cannot record every episode when I feel that my heart is low and I'm dizzy because that would mean the recording part/feature would have to be recording 24/7.

I've also been told that I should never feel my pacer "kicking in" and I don't. But I know of several members who say they can feel theirs working.

This is just a guess, but perhaps it was your blood pressure and not your pacemaker at all. I have Hypotension Intolerance and a form of Meniere's disease so I'm dizzy most of the time. Unfortunately, the pacemaker can't do anything to help those 2 situations. I also have Neurocardiogenic Syncope.

I guess you need to ask your EP to explain things again to you so you will understand. I've had to ask the same questions over and over again sometimes because I'm not the brightest bulb on the porch.

Low blood sugar???

Hi there, this can make you feel dizzy, have you been checked for diabetes? It doesnt mean youve got diabetes,we all tend to get low blood sugars if weve not eaten for a while or sometimes if weve had too much sugar a few hours before and the pancreas has released a bit too much insulin. Just a thought! HH
