Are you on beta blockers? They can reduce the HR substantially.

Heart Rate Increase

What was you heart rate before it went into overdrive? What are the settings on your pacemaker? While I'm no expert, I do not think there is a lot of correlation between heart rate and BP, and to me you have a very good BP.

I will tell you that many years ago, long before I ever heard of a pacemaker, my HR suddenly went from the steady 70 BPM I had for years to 90 BPM. Some weeks after that I had a heart attack. While no doctor ever told me that increase in HR was a signal that I had a very unpleasant surprise waiting for me, I have always wondered.

So, don't wait around too long, insist that your doctor check you out.

Good luck.

Resting HR.

There are a lot of things that can drive your HR up. Excitement, an infection, some foods (if I have Mexican Food and wine my HR will go up for most of the evening).

There is some interesting research on what is called Heart Rate Variability that suggests that a very steady HR is a bad sign.

If you feel OK otherwise I would give it a day or so. Otherwise, you might want to check with the doc.

Fast HR

by BOB 1 - 2008-09-19 03:09:21

After reading the other replies I think I needed to be a little more explicit with mine. When my HR went from 70 to 90 BPM, it stayed there. Ninety was my baseline rate until after a heart attack and I started taking Procardia, a calcium channel blocker. Again, I have no idea if the heart attack was related to the faster HR or not, but it is something I have always wondered about. You may be sure that if my HR ever jumps like that again (fat chance of that happening) I'll see a Dr. at once.

caffeine

adding to Frank's list, caffeine shoots me up in the 120's and I stay there for hours.
