High blood pressure

Hi everyone, you have all kept me going this last 2.5 weeks since i started pacing. I'm the one who went into total heart block whilst having lipo on my legs.

Went to hospital for my legs yest and asked if they would do my bp, it was 170/100, scared me to death, the nurse said i'd best contact my gp. Came on here and am now assured that this is fairly common with people like me who have had a really low pulse rate for a long time. Am going to get it checked again tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

Is it just my hospital or was anyone else bundled home with absolutely no info other than one sheet of paper, mine just said total heart block no other problems? No instructions other than come back in 6 weeks and dont raise your arm.

Luckily i found this site, otherwise i'd have been totally in the dark. I did go back and saw a technician 10 days after op who altered settings, i asked for a print out, was told no we dont give them, asked for info, she said 'you wouldnt understand its just a lot of numbers' Am in heart block not an imbecile! I went back because i needed to be cleared to fly to portugal next week.

Was in agony after the check up the battery was so heavy it feels like ive been walking around with a heavy weight in my chest for the last couple of days. Ended up sobbing nearly all the day before yesterday, but feeling a bit better now.

Sleeping in a bra has made it more comfortable and taken away the pain when walking around.

Sorry for the ranting!!!

The arrogance of that tech is so disappointing! Everything I read says we need to be our own advocate when it comes to our health and then you run into a roadblock (or blockhead!) when you ask for information. So what if you don't understand the reports! You can learn with everybody's help on here! I too felt like I had a wham! bam! thank you ma'am! trip to the hospital & came home wondering what the hell happened! I was so new to all this that I didn't have any idea what questions I should be asking. This site has been a great source of reassuance for me as I learn to become an active player in my healthcare. I found a book today called "Strong Women, Strong Hearts" that has alot of good information in it. I plan to read it cover to cover before I go for another appointment so I can ask the things that I haven't even thought of yet!

I feel that heaviness in the chest mostly when I'm laying down so it must come with the territory. Hang in there! Every day you'll feel better & it sounds like you have a great trip to focus on & look forward to! Happy Thanksgiving to you...

Thanks!!

Hi am feeling so much better today. My legs are feeling bit better, its been difficult coping with all the swelling and the pm. I was able to cook dinner today and took a stroll outside.

I think the other day was probably my lowest point and i'm on the way up now. Going shopping tomorrow to get something nice to wear at a wedding reception on Sunday night, something i can get into without lifting my arm! lol.

Something amazing though, my dog who normally jumps all over me in bed in a morning hasnt done it once since i got my pm, its as if he knows not to, he just comes and curls up by my side.

Happy thanksgiving to those in US

170/100 bp I would think that is a little high, but im no expert i dont see what is normal about that. I crap all over myself if mine gets close to 130s. But I guess the higher the second number is around or over 100 from what i have been told is where they get concerned but I would have had them retry the bp or would have went to doctor i may be all wet but justs seems a little to high to me. but hey im not a doctor and like the others say the info that the docs take are your information and you have every right to have a copy, for some reason they dont sometimes like to give it, not sure why.

Isnt wonderful the unconditianal love a dog bestowes on us. My best friend Ozzy when i was in the hospital for my bypass for the two weeks moped and kept watching out the window at 1130pm every nite my youngest daughter said he did, which was when i used to get home from work, when I got home he would not leave my side, if my wife took him out to the bathroom and i went in our bedroom i would hear them come back inside and then hear him running back to our bedroom, when he saw i was there he would go about what he wanted to do, but when my wife went to work he would not leave my side. He is a big boy and like to play ruff, never once did he do it while I was recouparating from either of my surgeries, now when I started to get better that was another story.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
