Leaking valve

Had a letter from my cardiologist saying Ive got a slightly leaking valve but not enough to be causing problems. Got pm for 3rd degree HB and 100% paced. Get Afib but decided not to take the medication, too scarey! Just a little nervous since getting the letter, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks guys, you are all a great support!!

As Patch said, don't worry because this is a very common problem.
Leaky valves (also known as regurgitation, or insufficiency) are graded as Mild, Moderate, or Severe. Upon noticing this problem on ECHO, and depending on the patient's symptoms, doctors usually don't worry too much about leaky valves, and there's not many treatment options unless the valve is in the "severe" stage.
I see ECHO reports all of the time while at work. I would say that 9 out of 10 patients have some sort of "mild" valve insufficiency. It really is quite that common.
The heart has four valves, and 3 of mine are leaky.....

Try not to worry about it too much, and take care.

Hi hotheart
I also have 3rd degree block and have three leaky valves, one graded as severe. I have had a pm for 12 years and on the whole been really well and active.
I got my first pm at 32 and most of the leaks have been with me all my life
All the best and take care
Leonie

Thanks guys!!!!
