Just give it 6 weeks to heal and let the leads grow into place, then you should be able to return to whatever you did before! You didn't say why you got the pm, everyone is different and you'll need your doctor's approval first but having a pm is no reason to hold back and not stay in shape.

Don't Think So

Hi, Just thought i let you know that i had that same type of question and asked my cardiologist and he said he highly advised it because it is possible that the leads could shift... however i don't know your specifics and i can say that everyone is different i suggest you consult with your doctor. Hope this helps

You should be able to.

Tony, I have had my dual chamber pacer for 3 + years now. I was told by the first tech I saw that after the scar tissue forms around the leads in the heart that you couldn't pull them out with a backhoe. After 1 month exactly I asked my Dr. when i could go back to work his answer was why are you sitting around. So i went to work the next day. I have been working since. I am a carpet and vinyl installer it is hard heavy work and I have had no problem. I don't lift weights but I could. Those carpets get up to 100 to 150 lbs. and it is like a soft dead weight. And just to let you know I am now 66 years old and still doing it everyday. You should be fine. Just give yourself time to heal up. I know it is hard to wait. But it is worth it. PS take work a little slow the first month and build up to your regular routine. Bowlrbob BOB

Worried

Hey Tony 74-When did you have your pm implanted? I also worked in construction, at power plants. I had my pm implanted in December 2007. The only restrictions I have is to do NO ARC WELDING...period. The electromagnetic field generated from the electric arc will be enough to effect the pm. Also stay away from power plant switch yards (inside the fence when the plant is operational). Other than that my friend you are good to go. Just give enough time for the leads to settle in and attach themselves to the heart muscle.
Keep on keeping on my friend and happy new year.
