Mammogram Tomorrow read article that..

Read some articles that some ladies have had their leads damaged during routine mammogram.
Anyone else had one done...should I be worried?
Of course I'll let the technician know I have one.

Not a problem for me

I am sure that it can happen (anything can) but as luck would have it I had my mammogram today & this is the 8th or 9th since I had the PM put in at the end of 2000 & no problems. But make sure that you tell the tech so they know. Good luck.

not impossible but rare

We have one member here who had that happen, but it's rare and she's the only one I'm personally aware of. If the technician knows you have it and is careful of your leads, it's perfectly safe. I've had several with no problems. First thing they did the first time was do a very gentle image to find out exactly where the leads are, then go back and do the real imaging. I always go back to the same place and they have digital records so now they always know just where my leads are.

Don't worry

I had mine 5weeks after my pm was implanted and had no problems. As long as they know they will look after you. They might even show you a picture of your pm. I found it fascinating.

be careful

Have them be really, really careful. I thought my ICD was fine but the tech ended up pulling mine out of the pocket, resulting in a revision!

You know you're wired when...

You always run anti-virus software.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
