Ladies with pacemakers - I am just two weeks with my pm and my bra straps hurt the site - does anyone have any ideas about my future bra wearing? For now, I cut the strap off just to get by. Thanks for info - Di

I've been looking at the comfort pads also, for now I just move the strap off of my shoulder. What bothers me the most is seat belts. Luckily, mine is on my right side, so I really only have to worry about the seat belt when I'm a passenger in a car, not when I'm driving. When I first started wearing a bra again post op, I would just put a layer of gauze pads over the site and that made a world of difference. I do find that bathing suit straps seem to bother me more. I hope you can find something that helps.

A couple of suggestions

The bra strap comfort pad didn't work for me. I ended up going bra-less for a few months, which was easy because of my small size and my layer of clothes in the winter. I recently saw an ad on TV for a bra that allows the straps to be worn several different ways to accommodate different clothes. Try using Google. This bra or something similar may be available on the Internet.

Seatbelts remained a serious problem for me. I also tried
"Affiliates" for a seatbelt protector but that didn't work for me either. Finally, I found a lambskin protector for the seatbelt shoulder harness on the Internet. It can be easily removed to take when traveling and using rental cars.

Sports bras!!

I wear sports bras, and only sports bras because I have the same problem. I'm also only 14, so... Well, that's my input. Hope you find a solution!!!!

Click on the "Affliates" word written in red to your upper left.
There you will find a bra strap comfort pad.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

It will get better

I'm on my second pacemaker - got mine at age 42. I found that I needed a sports bra initially, but within a few weeks it got much more comfortable and I was able to go back to my usual bras. With the second pacemaker, there's much less bruising, so I was able to wear my normal ones from about Day 3. I wore those spaghetti-strap t-shirts with the built-in support for a day or two.

The discomfort from the seatbelt was also temporary - it was fine within a couple of months.

I have found that "balcony" bras are more comfortable - I think in the US they're called balconette, although I'm not sure. Basically the straps are set wider.

I just went to my local department store, told the associate what I wanted to do and tried on bras for over an hour. It all depends on where the straps lie.
