Metal detector lesson

Just thought I would post about my recent encounter with a metal detector. First a little background info, my dad has been involved with a prison ministry for a couple of years, and since I not working right now, I decided to get involved also. During this ministry usually the free world men go into the prision daily for four days, on the fourth day the women, are allowed to go in for a closing service. In order for both the men and women to go in you have to undergo Dept of Corrections training. Yesterday, my dad and I went to the unit where the upcoming event will be held, It is a maximum security state prison with lots of security. Well, all I knew was that most info about metal detectors say it's OK just not to linger near them. Just to make sure there would be no problems, I checked with both the prison chaplian and one of the guards, both said it was Ok I showed them my card, and was asked to go through the metal detector. Did as instructed, activtated the metal detector, and again informed the guards it was probably my pacemaker that set it off. That's when the guard I had asked before, freaked out and then said NOOO you shouldn't have gone through, well lesson learned I won't do that again. No adverse reactions do to going the detector just a little frustrated. Sorry this is long.

I go through prison metal detectors 4 times a day and nothing has ever happened!

Sounds like it didn't cause you any problem other than dealing with the guard. Not much you can do about that. They don't understand the pacer well enough to know what is happening. If you need to deal with the detector I suggest talking to someone higher up or possibly a prison doctor who could work things out for you.

good luck,
