Want It Out

My question is why do you want it out?

Do you think it is causing your heart rhythm to be worse than before you got the PM?

Do you think the PM is causing you pain that the doctor cannot resolve?

Is the PM causing pain at the implant site?

Do you think you no longer need a PM?

Do feel that it is unsightly and you just want it out of there?

Depending on your answer there may be another option.

That is leave the PM in place and have the settings turned as low as possible. I know one person that had their low setting changed from 70 to 30. That meant their heart rate would have to drop below 30 before the PM came on. For them, that low setting was the same as not having a PM for several years, but one day they found their heart rate had dropped into the 50s, they had no energy and generally felt bad. A trip to the doctor got the settings changed on the PM and got it back into the game. They felt better in a very short time.

I'm sure there are other alternative, but I happen to know of this one.

EP in Las Vegas

Seems to me the PM was implanted for a reason. If the reason stil exists then think twice about taking it out !!!

There must be a good EP in Las Vegas...find him/her. If not then I would hop a plane and go to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland OH. That is what I was going to do until this great EP entered my life !!

Pacemaker

by lisa29 - 2009-10-08 10:10:29

I had a pacemaker implanted at 26, I did not want one. I was imbarressed at first being so young but then i realized that without it i would not be on this earth and here for my two beautiful children.
I told doctors from the age of 17 that i had something wrong with my heart and not one doctor believed me until my brother died at 28 and my heart was severly in arrythmia and i had to have an emergency ablation.
I had to push and see so many doctors before i finally got one to listen to me and to this day i still have chest pain/tightness. I still take 100 mg of beta blocker. I still am always exhausted and have came to the realization that i will never be able to have a full time job. There are so many limitations for me but there are also so many things i am greatful for. Without this pacemaker my kids would not have a mother. And without this pacemaker i would not have the chance of seeing my kids grow up and watch their smiling faces.
I am only 30 and i know i have a long hard road ahead of me, But i am blessed to be hear today.
It is so hard to find a doctor to listen i agree with that 100% but that is no reason to give up, Beleive me i have been there. Dont give up and keep pushing and you will find the answers you are looking for. Feel free to message me anytime you need someone to talk to. Take care

I was told by my cardiologist that once he did the PM implant/ablation, the procedure could never be reversed. I have only had my PM 6 days, but you do need to call the Las Vegas Nev. State Medical Board or somewhere like that and request names of good cardiolgists/EP/surgeons. My general practioner referred me last year to a cardiologist heart group and the heart group set me up an appt. w/one of their cardiologists over a year ago. A simple, good, professional "tweak" may be all you need, not knowing your circumstances for the last year. Keep in touch with this PM Club group; they have good advice and can be your newest, best friends. Good luck to you ~ Carolyn G. in TEXAS
