Renee are you a tax accountant?

I felt a need to reply to you here instead of my previous post so that people are not confused. After this I will consider this a dead issue.

You have not read through the irs.gov document throughly. The " exceeds 7.5% of your adjusted gross income" pertains to all unreimbursed medical/dental expenses which includes transportation costs to the doctors /medical facilities.and other expenses which the IRS clearly spells out. I am sure there are some people who visit this site who do not have insurance or whose incomes are low with enormous medical expenses that could benefit from this information.

Yes, I know about H&R Block, but my father-in-law is also a tax accountant.. When you have a relationship with your tax accountant, he would tell you in advance what receipts you need and to make sure you keep accurate records. I cannot speak for others, but I keep records and receipts for all tax related issues. People who visit H&R Block type of tax places are just getting their taxes done based on the info they provide. The H&R Blocks are not going to ask you for these receipts. That is why anyone with tremendous medical expenses would benefit from seeing a tax accountant or a tax attorney who will tell them what they need to do to protect themselves financially.

I am just relating factual information to help people, not confusing them. I provided the IRS website address so that they could read the information firsthand and use it to their benefit if they wish to. By the way, a phone call to the IRS won't cost you anything (they have toll free numbers).

Finally, Renee, I am sure you joined this forum for a reason, but based on your comments to several posters, I am not really sure why. I joined to offer support to others, just like I hope I have their support. I just like to be a little more positive in my support and help others when they have questions.

Personal Bad Feelings a No-No ~ ~

by Carolyn65 - 2010-03-27 01:03:24

To Anyone w/Animosity: Please keep in mind the original goals of the Pacemaker Club and the future visions of our Club. Bad personal feelings are not.

This is a PM Club to speak of our knowledge, help others and be passionate to all who want to be involved in this wonderful club. Please, not just in this "post/comments", do not bring personal feelings, personal statements or be vindictive of our other human friends who are helping to educate the rest of the PM Club. I , too, was "corrected" on this site once, but I took the "comments" as being very positive, not negatives. We must show our Gratitudes ~ ~ Life is tooooo short to thrust daggers at each other.

"Childish, immature, control, etc." are words not used in the PM Club vocabulary. There are personal messages which can be sent.

How about sending personal messages instead of posting them out here for everyone to see if you are in disagreement or want to challenge somebody's comment.

good idea???

I thank you for confirming for me that when I go to the dr., dentist, pharmacy for a prescription that I can deduct my milage. I have done this for about 2 yrs. now and it has made a difference for me on the $ side of things. I pay dearly every month for that medical ins. and battle with them over what they will pay and not pay - they just try to pull one over on us by saying no to dr. visits which we all know we need now that we have the pacemakers. I declare everything I can think of when it comes to medical. I am in a low income tax bracket now so my % back is lower than before.

Pookie - you are a good source for people out here - glad you read everything and help out.

All be well, Sugar

Thank You!

Heartu, I really appreciate your support and explaining things to me. I am one of those people that is in the low income category, doesn't have complete insurance coverage so anything extra would help me even if it was a couple cents here and there. To me money adds up.
My boyfriend is a law student so I just plan on talking to him an have him explain things so I can understand them.
Bless You for trying to help some of us out who need support a lot right now.

Thank you so much!
Tammy

Heartu, thank you for taking the time to explain this into further detail. This is the type of simple, educated info. we need.

Not knowing how the new Health reform bill will effect me this soon after passing, any type of simple explanation to the here and now laws does help.
