It's great!

I've found a great product to reduce the look of my scar! It's called bio oil and it's great! The redness of my scar is fading quick and it's only been 2 1/2 months! I seriousley reccomend it!

Bio Oil

Hello Carolyn and Heartu - In England, where I am, Bio Oil's available at pharmacies and also in the skin care aisles of the larger supermarkets. I began to use it as soon as the strips fell off the wound and it was safely closed up. I put the oil on twice a day. It's not a heavy oil and doesn't leave a greasy mark on clothes or nightie.

My scar's about 2 and a half inches long and is a fine white line which is easily disguised with some cosmetic concealer - I use the same stuff as I slap on the aged face! Of course, as an elderly person, I don't wear very low necklines any longer. However, sometimes in the warmer weather a flimsy top is inclined to slip or is a bit lower cut than cold-weather gear, so I feel quite confident in these clothes when I've done a cosmetic trick!

Hope this helps. However, I do realise that what works for one doesn't work for another. Other of our friends in the club swear by Vitamin E oil and someone else recommends Emu oil - of which I've never before heard. Emus aren't thick on the ground in England! Love, Sheila

Here! Here!

I endorse your recommendation, Charli. Bio Oil did it for me too. I recommend it to everyone. It's not too expensive either, and a little goes a long way. I hasten to add I'm not married to Mr Bio Oil!

Kind wishes, Sheila

Where? ~ ~

This sounds great. My scar is nice and smooth, but we can all recommend products.

Where can this bio oil be found? Pharmacy, grocery store, gas station (LOL), refineries (LOL) or just a "dip out of the ol' car engine (LOL)?

This sure will help someone I am sure. I read where one of the regular members wrote this week of a terrible scar. Maybe this will be of help to her.

Thanks, Carolyn G. in TEXAS

Mederma should also work

I've also seen ad for Mederma to reduce scars.

BTW, how soon can this bio-oil be used after surgery?

Yeah, it still works on old scars. Obviousley it can't make them invisible it reduces the appearance. With me it also completely got rid of any minor scars I had! Bio oil in England can be found pretty much anywhere where they sell skin care items, including supermarkets.

I hope this helps.

Old Scars

by Wannabe - 2010-03-14 10:03:42

I agree with, Charli, CSEP. Bio-Oil faded a older scar on my arm. I'm going into hospital soon for a hip replacement and am priming the skin on my thigh, or where I think the instruction "Cut Here" might apply, to see if that's going to aid healing of the wound. It's said to fade old stretch marks a bit too. I wonder what Emu oil actually smells like!!!! Love, Sheila
