After all this time...

It's now my turn to take care of myself. One of the things about having a family is that as a parent, we tend to put our lives on hold. Well, it's my turn now. I get to meet with the EP surgeon this week to arrange to have my device removed. It will have been implanted for three years come November and I have tried to get it out since the middle of November, three years ago. So finally it's my turn.

The surgeon has already said that both lead extraction and generator extraction will most likely not change much because the damage from the implants and the scar tissue are already done but there is always a chance something might improve. They will be able to break the adhesion in my shoulders now and maybe I will regain the full use of both my arms. That's a big thing If nothing else, hopefully my mood will improve. AND...I won't be a second class citizen anymore and be able to walk through security gates without being pulled aside and "patted down". I'll also be able to pursue flying lessons which was the last thing on my list of things I wanted accomplish in this life. I have wanted to acquire my pilots license.

I haven't waited patiently but I have waited so maybe it's my turn now.

Removed not Replaced.....?

Joy,
Excuse me if I'm being too personal, you are having your PM removed and not replaced? Sounds like you've been through a bit of hell for 3 years.
Pursue your dreams - having a pilots license sounds like the door to an open road for you.
I wish you all the best.

Good luck with everything, I'm sure it will turn out all right.

You know you're wired when...

You have a new body part.
