numbness?

I have not seen this one yet. Since my pacer implant 2 years ago my right shoulder on the pm side has been sore and stiff. It has not stopped any type of activity but is just uncomfortable. In the last 3 weeks my right hand has had a numb feeling when I sit at the computer or drive. I went to the pm clinic today and had a good 45 minute with the cardiologist and the pm readouts and ekg are all fine. He thinks the pm case could be pushing on a nerve or that scar tissue is causing it. Any comments?

Since my implant in 2004 I have had left shoulder pain on my pm side. My doc passes this off as arthritis. I find if I lay or lean forward the pain can be triggered and I have often wondered if my pm in pressing on a nerve. I
have an appt on 22 July with the cardio. This is a new guy for me as we are travelling. I will be interested to hear his comments and will let you know.

Hey,
Just a thought ,does the numbness only come with using the computer and driving? If so you may have carpal tunnel syndrome which is aggravated by these very activities or any activity that brings your hand back to your face . You can have tests to rule out carpal tunnel. Since your pm readings and ekg were fine maybe you should ask your MD about this? Carpal Tunnel can be reversed with night splints, Physical or Occupational therapy with appropriate modalites and exercise, at the worst surgery can be done which usually has good results. So you need to follow through with the cardiologist to see if it is a pinched nerve from the pm or some other reason. So, I hope this helps and let us know what happens.

Thank you both very much for some good info. Surgery was mentioned, but I don't even want to think about that until the pacer gets replaced! Carpal Tunnel was also mentioned but the numbness travels down from my shoulder and he rulled that out. Physical Therapy is a thought, I will see what they say. Thanks again and Blueaustralia I would love to hear your docs opinion.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
