A New Beginning.

Dear members and friends.

I would like to share with all of you a beautiful prayer I came across, which I feel is very appropriate at this time.

Prayer for the New Year
by Tom Norvell

Father,

Give us a new year. Not just a new number, but a truly new year. Give us a year full of new things, new adventures, new attitudes, and visions. Lord, give us a new year full of new ideas and refresh some of our old ideas. Give us new relationships and renew old relationships, and restore relationships that have been broken.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a new song. Give us a new memory. Give us a new image of Your Son, and help us to show His image of those who are new to You. Give us new thoughts, new friends, and new things that replace the old worn-out things.

Father, give us a new year. The year that has just ended was difficult for some of us. There were struggles and frustrations and disappointments that we did not handle so well. Give us a better mentality and better spiritual insight that will help us deal with the struggles, frustrations and disappointments that will come in this New Year.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a year filled with new ministries, new opportunities, new voices, and new messages. Help us hold on to the old things that are worth holding, and help us let go of the old things that have served their purpose.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a year that is not controlled by fear. A year in which we are not afraid of people who are different. A year when we are not afraid of ideas that are new, of plans that are new, and places that are new.

Father, give us a new year. Give us a year filled with new love. A new love for You. A new love for each other. A new love for Your Kingdom. A new love for strangers. A new love for the helpless. A new love for the needy. A new love for poor. A new love for rich. A new love for all people.

Father, give us a new year. Help us put the old one to bed. Help us to leave the things of the past in the past. Help us look forward. Help us look beyond what we can see to what You have planned for us that we cannot see. Help us move forward with confidence and courage and humility and gentleness.

Father, give us a new year. Help us, in this New Year to completely surrender to You and what You have planned for us in this year filled with new things.

Happy New Year Everyone!

this is your opinion

you are intitled to your opinion but lets just say getting real in my life is believing in something much bigger than i am and that happens to be god to me. so please do not say god is irrelevant to me as i too am entitled to my opinion. i still believe more things are wrought by prayers than this world dreams of. i lost a brother 37 years ago to leukemia and all of our love and prayers could not save him. i get it. it is god's will whether we survive or don't he has a plan for all of us. i walked around for 4 months ill and they could not find an answer in spite of all the ekg's i had. i walked into our local hospital one noon hour for yet another ekg. suddenly i was whisked into e.r. where a cardiologist was there to put in a temporary pacemaker. i drove to the hospital so my son and husband were summoned to get their immediately my life was hanging in the balance. so i believe that god provided me that day so i could live a cardiologist in a town of 11,000 people. i was then in chf and i was intubated and it was taken out hours later and was whisked in an ambulance to the closest icu. a day later i was taken by ambulance and a nurse to london's university hospital for a permanent one. my pulse was 28 so you see i believe there is a devine plan. so slowhands there you are take care and god bless you jessie

Dominique, Thank you so much for posting this prayer. Just last night I saw showing my husband who is in the photo album and explaining a little about those I know best. I said "Isn't Dominique lovely? I haven't seen any postings lately from her". Today I sign on and here you are in a really, really big way to just fill my heart! What a lovely, meaningful prayer to begin this New Year. Yes, it has been a difficult year but the Lord has answered so many prayers for us and Cliff is doing ever so much better.

For slowhands or others who don't believe, I would not expect you to embrace this pray, just respect those of us who do. As Jessie so poignantly put it those of us who do believe do so with grateful hearts and we know we have Someone always with us even when we are alone. It is very simple - there is no mystery, no magic! Just plain old faith. comfort and peace in the eye of any of life's storm.

I believe that God in His infinite wisdom has allowed medical science to progress over the years just as everything else has progressed. He gives us scientists, physicians, researchers, etc., with brilliant minds who continually strive to conquer disease, illness and handicapping conditions now through technology! He is the Ultimate Physician. Have you or a family member ever been in a serious/critical situation where you cried out "oh, God"? That was a prayer.

I do wish a good 2008 for you and yours. I wish you peace, health and success, however you define success. God bless you.

Isn't it time to give up the age-old myth of prayer? In 1850, people had the same god as now, but no pacemakers and no modern medical tools or medicines. The life expectancy was 38.3 years for white males at birth. Today it is exactly double. So, either god was goofing off back then, or else god is irrelevant and science gets the credit for healthier people. Let's get real...
