Change in Resting Heart Rate Three Months Post Pacemaker Implant

Received pacemaker in December because sotalol (for afib) was causing my heart rate to drop too low (50's during the day and high 30's during the night). Pacemaker implantation went well and after six weeks rate was set at 60 bpm. My heart rate consistently was beating at 60 bpm since then even when doing light exercise.  But this past week my heart rate has increased to 68-70 bpm most of the time. Only time I get 60 bpm is early morning upon arising. Wondering if anyone else has had this same experience.

My experience

I had my dual lead fitted 13 months ago as my BPM was dropping into the low thirties and causing me to black out. Mine was set at 60 and I was released from hospital. During the next few weeks at home I was still feeling quite ill and my BPM was around 63 pretty constantly. As the months past I now find my BPM up in the mid 80's at rest which is very strange for me to understand. I am 13 months post implant and yet to see anyone as my appointments have been cancelled twice (NHS).  Lots of unknowns and worrys for pacemaker patients, very little support from the NHS I find.

Forget the numbers !

All that matters is how you feel !   Resting heart rates between 60 and 100 bpm are considered to be normal . If you don't feel good see your Dr; if you feel OK then forget the numbers .

I am 4 weeks post implant of first pacemaker. I have seen my resting heart rates increase daily for the past week! I have been having resting heart rates (laying in bed) of 118. Before implant I rarely had a rate over 100 unless I was doing very strenuous exercise.

I am concerned but do not want to go to the hospital so I am trying to wait it out until tomorrow.

resting HR

It may be the rate of return settings on the PM, w/ a slower ret. rate, it will take longer after activity to return to the resting rate. this can be adjusted at yr PM checkup...

You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.
