Pacemaker audible signals

My PM is emitting an audible sound intermittently. I had a check up 3 days ago and was told I still have 3 years of battery life. What other settings could cause these signals?

You might look up your model on the Medtronic site. They have manuals for several of them.

The audible sounds can be due to several things such as low battery, problem with your device, dangerous rhythm, an alert to call your dr, a warning it's all over, or even a wrong number. As Maxwell said you can go online and look up alarms for your specific device, but you'd be better off to call your Dr.

I heard metallic clicking

I have had my PM/ICD for 4 months and also heard metallic clicks from my left side— the shoulder my PM is located. They weren’t rhythmic but rather intermittent. I tried to find the movement that seemed to generate the sound. My Cardiologist said it was my imagination. It’s not.

Just two days ago I had my device readjusted. I haven’t heard the clicking since. The Tech did three things — turned on my sleep rate; adjusted the sensitivity of my rate response and lowed the voltage delivered for each pulse.

My guess it was the third. But my tech had never heard of clicking.

I would love to have a doctors and techs who have PMs. They just don’t get it.
