Pacemaker

First off i still want to thank every one. It is a learning curve if you been healthy all your life then wham you get hit hard with illness . Of course you will have questions and learning to cope. When i told my husband i was having heart pains he told me im ok cause if something was wrong my pacemaker would send it to his computer.  how turn this is i dont know.when i first got my pacemaker i really did not know what it did since in my mind it was just another device to read my heart no big deal when my mother n law seen me after the implant she broke it all down for me in lame terms shes a retired nurse of 45 years i think i was in denial maybe i still am to a point. Tomorrow i will be putting a call into the dr and the reason why is because of all of the reply  i received it helps me more than anyone will know my brain does short  circuit . I dont know if its a mix of bipolar, lack of O2 or ??? In my mind im to young for this but im not but thank you for all your reply. Im only 54 i am not on any heart meds .so i will see what my dr says tomorrow i have  the date time and length saved for he can check the computer to see if anything was out of the ordinary. Thanks again every one

Don't know why...

...a PM would send msg to a computer.  Also, the PM will not detect plumbing problems - just electrical problems.

Don't depend on such notifications - if you get  HA symptoms, go to an ER immediately - minutes count!

message in a bottle

Mine sends out messages in a bottle. Come on, unless I'm misunderstanding what you were trying to say, somethings not right. Is your husband a tech for one of the pacemaker manufacturers or a doctor? Cause otherwise he ain't getting any alerts on his computer from your pacemaker. That would make these things easily hacked by anyone with a computer. On top, as Don said, and he's absolutely right, your device only monitors the electrical signals of the heart. Anything to do with plumbing or mechanical it won't pick up, especially a heart attack (myocardial Infarction). Chest pain, go to ER

just in...

I just read your previous post on this topic so let me add some stuff...

you should know your Cardiologist told you how to differentiate between a heart attack and angina. If you take up to 3 Nitro within a 15 minute period and the pain does not dissipate immediately get to the ER, it ain't Angina. Both Angina and heart attacks are mechanical or plumbing issues that cannot be detected or treated by a pacemaker or defibrillator. A heart attack is the result of blockage of blood going into your heart. If not treated quickly you have a high risk of death, or even worse, permanent damage also called Cardiomyopathy. I've had so many heart attacks they want to bury my heart because it barely works. It's no picnic living with a heart that barely pumps.

Next, and it pains me to say this, DonR is a fairly decent guy and not trying to be mean to you. In fact that's what they hired me for. He is trying to ensure that he gets your attention so you realize how serious this is and convince you to take appropriate action to save your life. He also has to be aware that others read these and need to know as well so he gets a little gruff to ensure you get it.

We get that you're new, and learning but go to some reputable web sites, like WebMD and Cleveland Clinic and read up on your condition. The major pacemaker manufacturer's have great information on your device and conditions they treat as well as videos. Google things like pacemaker and heart attacks and educate yourself so you can begin understanding what you are talking about and what to ask here. And don't keep asking the same thing.

Finally, you know the dumbest statement ever made? "There are no dumb questions"  Stick around here awhile and you'll realize how dumb that statement is. and no, that's not an attack on you but the idiot who first came up with that nonsense.
