Arm Pain

I had a pacemaker fitted end of February so 12 weeks now.  I had annoying arm pain but yours sounds sore.  I bought a rucksack handbag and only carried everything on my right arm.  In the end had acupuncture (but I know that's not for everyone) and this week it's a lot better.  I take st john's wort for nerve pain (again not everyone can use this with medication).

I so sympathise - it catches you unawares and is very painful - but - it is improving and I realise my life is going to be so much better!  I didn’t realise I had a heart block it was a shock.  Am hoping to go gentle swimming soon which will help shoulder and arm to get moving probably.

best of luck

Unfortunately, a condition called "frozen shoulder" happens after pacemaker implantation--not because of the surgery, but because of keeping the shoulder and arm too immobile for too long, specifically not lifting or raising the arm.

Though it's called 'frozen shoulder" the pain can actually be in the shoulder, the arm, or the neck--or all of the above. Movement is painful, but the lss you move, the more it will hurt.

Physical therapy and/or deep tissue massage to release the fascia across the side ribs and under arms helps.

Consult an orthopedist.

I had a pacemaker when I was 11. I never once thought I wasn't a 'normal kid' nor was I ever treated differently because of it. I could do everything all my friends were doing; I just happened to have a battery attached to my heart to help it work.
