Saw my PT Wednesday for some neck/shoulder problems. No ultrasound or electrical stimulation. She instead used a laser which she had also used on my knee when I had it replaced last summer. You might ask about laser. She says it works much the same way as US.

Another tidbit: I tried to get an appointment locally with 2 licensed massage therapists. They will not work on anyone with a PM. Fortunately, in my PT office there are 2 neuromuscular massage therapists and I have an appointment there!

ULTRASOUND THERAPY

Hi Pete its Pete !!!, Yes apparently you are not supposed to have ultrasound therapy if you have a pacemaker. I think Its caused Focused Utrasound Therapy (which creates heat). I dont know why that is. As its your foot I agree it seems a bit over the top, cant you get a second opinion as it is so far away from your pacemaker. Cheers Pete

My ortopedic doctor had ordered ultrasound therapy on my hips, but they would not do it as I had a PM. I even showed them in the medtronic book where therapudic ultrasound was OK. still no go. I had to have my PM doctor send them a fax saying it was OK as long as the ultrasound unit was keep at least 6 inches from my PM. ( I think your foot should qualify)

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
