HAVING LITTLE PROBLEMS

Hi again everyone, I am so glad that I found this web site my. I have another question - probably nothing to worry about. Does anyone else have pain in the nect or shoulder area. Sometimes I have a slight pulsating pain in my uper neck/jaw area..... is this a norm. Or am I jumping the gun again. All of these things are so new to me and I'm just a little anxious.

Thank all of you for your wonderful replies.

HAVING LITTLE PROBLEMS

by SMITTY - 2007-09-25 12:09:11

Hi Renee,

I think probably all of us with pacemakers have been through episodes of pain that we could not identify as being specifically caused by our PM, but it still hurt. Sometimes it would get better after a few hours or days and sometimes it takes intervention by the doctor to get relief. So a short answer to your question "is this a norm" the answer is maybe yes and maybe not. Read the following on pain, it may help some. My suggestion is that if the pain is persistent or severe, norm or no morn, see your doctor. If it is PM related then something is wrong because a PM should never be painful. At least that is what the manufacturers of pacemakers tell u.

"Pain is a feeling triggered in the nervous system. Pain may be sharp or dull. It may come and go, or it may be constant. You may feel pain in one area of your body, such as your back, abdomen or chest, or you may feel pain all over, such as when your muscles ache from the flu.
Pain can be helpful. Without pain, you might seriously hurt yourself without knowing it, or you might not realize you have a medical problem that needs treatment. Once you take care of the problem, pain usually goes away. However, sometimes pain goes on for weeks, months or even years. This is called chronic pain. Sometimes chronic pain is due to an ongoing cause, such as cancer or arthritis. Sometimes the cause is unknown.

Fortunately, there are many ways to treat pain. Treatment varies depending on the cause of pain. Pain relievers, acupuncture and sometimes surgery are helpful."

Hope the pain is gone by now.

Smitty
