Dumb Question

HI Everyone,

I have a pretty stupid question here. I already have a med alert bracelet...just a cheap one from wal mart..I didn't get it engraved. I was wondering...what I should have engraved on it? I have a PM ..not taking any meds but...just not to sure how much info I should put on it.

Any help with this is very much appreciated

that is a good ideal....my cheap one turned my arm green in about a month though. i also have a note on my wallet near my drivers license in an embossing gun:
"Pacemaker left shoulder...on coumadin"

Gloria. I bought mine thru www.medicalert.org
It is a Titanium coated Stretch bracelet (gold colored) and small emblem. It looks like gold and wears very well $40. and has been mistaken for a gold bracelet.
They do the engraving. There is a toll free number as well as you ID number and the medics can call that number and find out all you meds,(you can go online and change any meds you are taking) doctors, family phone numbers and the pacemaker make & serial numbers. As an example mine is engraved as followed

Pacemaker
Atril Fib
Hypertension
Allerg Vicodin (makes me deathly ill)
Takes Coumadin

They do not put the name or model of the pacemaker but have it on your records at medicalert.org So you see, they suggest and engrave the necessary things the medics should know Just a suggestion. aldeer

Hi Gloria.

I have a Medic Alert bracelet as well. It mentions my pacemaker, my heart condition, allergies to meds and others, and that I take coumadin.
Are you a member of Medic Alert? If not, you might want to include the phone number of your physician, so in case of an emergency, your medical records will be available.

Hi, Gloria.

I, too, had a non-medic alert medic bracelet for 9 months after my surgery just to have one. It said my name on the back along with "Pacemaker / No Latex." Eventually, I enrolled in Medic Alert. It gives me MUCH more peace of mind and really isn't all that expensive. Now my bracelet has a number for doctors or EMT's to call and get my info., they also call my family in the event of an emergency, and more vital info. is on my bracelet.

So, that's what I can offer!

Med Bracelets

I received mine from medic alert. On the front I have my name, pacemaker, allergy, doctor, and doctor's phone number. On the back I have.....spouse and cell # and I also have my parent's names and their phone number. Guess I'm covering all my bases. I would at least have your name, pacemaker, and maybe someone they could call. Great idea that you bought one!

Simple approach

You should have received a card to carry when you got the pacer. Mine has the pacemakers make and model number as well as Medtronics phone number.You could engrave this info on the bracelet. Keeping the info simple and large improves the chances that it would be noticed in an emergency. I've always wondered about these tags or bracelets with so much small print on them. In an accident the bracelet could be damaged and hard to read.
