Hellooooooooo! Wondering: why do some people get their old PMs back? How do you get it?

Well I dont know why some people do that. I had my gallbladder removed about a year ago and my boyfriend got bad cause I didnt ask the doctor if I could keep it. I can only imagine what he is gonna say if I dont try getting my Pacer back. But I also think that it might be a little cool to keep at least your First Pacemaker that you receive. I might just have to ask for that. Plus my pm is like my new best friend. He even has his own very original name of " Pacer" It would give my family the chance to see what it looks like too since they ask all the time. Hope I have helped with your curiosity some.

Well that pretty much says how I feel about the pacer. I bought it, I wear it and I think that if I can't have it then my insurance co. should. After all we paid for it. hee hee. Mine is due to be replaced in 18 months. I pace 95% of the time. I can't sustain life without it so I think it should be mine to keep. I kept the gold crowns when I had the new crowns put on my back teeth. Similar.... but as my husband says... not the same thing. I think it is all about the money. I also kept the screws from when they had to screw my broken leg back together after I broke it skydiving!
I am looking forward to seeing what other pacers/ICDs are thinking.

Yep, when my PM is changed I would like to keep the old one. I earned it, I paid for it and I consider it is my property. I will as the tech and specialist when I next see them and let you know what happens here in Oz.

I Kept My Old PM

Good morning, I am currently on my 2d PM in a year's time. When they upgraded me to a three wire/ICD, they removed my old 2 wire one and asked me if I wanted to keep it. I said yes and there under my pillow when I woke up was the old one. I guess the PM Fairy did visit and allowed me to keep it. I now have a plan to obtain two leads, attach a red and green LED to the PM and get it flashing, then incase it in plastic. Sure hope it works! Thanks for all of your support and education. Jake :-)
