About to lose my PM virginity

Hi Guys, well, been waiting 2 months, and I'm 21 hours away (can't stop clock watching) until I receive my first dual chamber PM for 3rd degree AV block at 29 years of age. Just wanted to thank all that have shared their experiences over the past few weeks with me, it really does help in giving you a base of information to move forward. Of course, as a human being with young children I am naturally terrified still but know exactly what is happening and why, which certainly out ways the operation, so not to sound too cheesy (my UK friends will know what that means) you are an inspiration to others who find a forum like this. I got my first pacemaker at age 26 for congenital third degree block, too. That was in 1975. You'll do great!

and I have to confess that I'm a little bit nervous. This is not the first time I'll be probed but it will be the first time that they'll leave something behind in me. And I don't have youth on my side (at least not chronologically).

The one thing that bothers me is that unlike all the people in here, from what I can tell, if I could be a couch potato, not have to rake leaves or push a spreader or do any aerobic exercise, I don't need a PM. My rate is just fine as long as I don't exert, and if I do, it goes down after I stop exerting. I've asked all my docs why and they don't have an answer. This has gone on for 5 years and has been getting worse so I threw in the towel. If I didn't who knows one day I might be just sitting still when my rate dips into the 30's.

I'll be posting after the first week or so with my new PM (I don't know what model I'm getting either)

I got my pacer at age 28 for sinus node disease (tachy-brady syndrome) and can honestly say I quickly forgot that it was even there! (had it 4 years),

You'll be great! I had my pm put in almost a year and a half ago at age 29, too. The nice thing about youth is that we tend to bounce back from things a bit quicker or even better than others. Before you know it, you'll be feeling better and more secure than you were pre-pm.

If anything comes up, just run to your family here at the club!
