Heart rhythm medicine

Hi everyone. I have been put on the heart rhythm medicine to keep me from having so many episodes from fast heart beats until they get me in to have another ablation. (This ablation will be my second one, had my first one in 2001, followed by pacemaker implantation) Anyway, I was wondering if it is normal to have days that when I take my medicine, Rythmol SR 325 Mg. twice a day, I get very lightheaded or dizzy? Sometimes, it even feels like it, the medicine, brings on the fast heart beat and missed beats. I have been on it for 2 months so far. I don't do it all of the time but when it does, it's scary.

Thanks,
Pacie

Rhytmol side effects

RHYTMOL helped me almost2 months after that i had been on and off Atrial fibrillation. When i got beck in the sinus rhytm it was a cardioversion pause for 4-5 second. It's happened to me several times and was realy scary! in that time i didn,t have the pacemaker, yet.I went to the hospital to try another medicine but the doctors decided to put me on the highest dose of Rhytmol 900mg daily, plus Atenolol(betablocker).RHYTMOL is itself a betablocker than I KNEW THAT IS A DANGEROUS treatment but dicided not to argue with the doctors.Wrong thing! In the same night on the monitor was a biger cardiac pause The doctors would'nt take any chance and decide to implant me a pacemaker. Now after more than 3 months after the implant i'm in continuous Atrial fib.
Inyour case you are saved because your pacemaker but what's happened to you is the sign ,maybe, that the medicine is already ineffective
Good luck!

Rythmol

Hi Pacie.. I was on rythmol for a couple of years (after many other meds) My dosage was 300MG three times a day. When it became ineffective, (before my pacemaker), my doctor told me to go off that it wasn't doing the job. Whatever you do , DO NOT go off all at once as I was told to do. I could not get thru to the doctor after about six calls and did not get thru until the next morning. My heart rate was 150 for almost 24 hours. I should have gone straight into the doctors office and sat! Anyway, the next morning the plan was to take 4 rythmols at once and sit in the back office and if it did not convert to normal by 4p.m. to go to the hospital for a cardioversion. It did not convert but after being set up for the cardioversion, my heart rate was then 110, I was told I could either go home or if I chose the cardio version, it would be extremely dangerous. I went home and my heart rate went down by the next morning. It was very difficult, so my advice to anyone is NOT to stop medication all at once even if you are told to....do check with your doctor about your sypmtons however, because that is so important. Lots of good luck to you

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
