Eye Surgery

I have been advised to do cataract surgery in one eye.Has any member done this surgery after PM installed?I am with Medtronics Adapta ADRS-01 IN VVIR mode for SSS,AF,Brady-Tachy cardia for 2years.
Eye surgeon says, now it is very simple, with 0.5 mm cut, old lense is removed and a gel like substance is pumped. Some drops are only applied for anesthia and bleeding is negligible
I am on Warfarin,Dipyradmole and Metoprolol-ER.Cardiologist
says need not stop warfarin also. some senior members like Smitty,Frank etc may please offer their views
Regards.

My surgery

Hi,

I had boths eyes done ( one month apart) while on Coumadin, didn't get PM until later. On Coumadin for AFib. I was really worried but the Dr. did as you describe thru the clear part of the eye rather than the white part of the eye & I was told no blood supply & no bleeding. This was about 10 yrs ago & all went well & now I can see colors again.

Drops were done for anesthesis rather than a block that is usually done & I had to hold my eye still but no pain, just some light pressure. Since PM I have had both knees replaced under general anesthesia. Long as everybody knows your histrory & condition usually all OK. Of course, had to go off coumadin for knee surgery as long incision & lots of time under ansethesia. But I am now fairly bionic-PM, new knees & cataract repaired with new lens in each eye. Hah! T.G. for modern medicine!!!

Good luck,

Janet

OK

Absolutely nothing to worry about. Straightforward outpatient surgery for a cataract which only takes 15 to 20 minutes will not affect your pacemaker.
