Heart Disease & Depression

YES, I did post this about a week ago, but I think it may be very helpful yet again..especially to the newbies!!

Sept. 29, 2008 -- Heart disease and depression are so common that all heart patients should be routinely screened for depression and referred for professional help if necessary, according to new recommendations issued by the American Heart Association.

it is absolutely true. it has a profound effect on a person and depression is the result. it needs to be treated. also that person cannot drink after taking antidepressants. my second antidepressant is really sensitive to alcohol so i don't drink at all. i learned the hard way and had a blackout after a few glasses of wine. there is a lot more out there i want to enjoy. life is very short jessie

the reverse is also true

Severe depression can cause heart disease! I was diagnosed with PTSD after TWA 800 and 9/11 (I was a first responder) and then in 2006 without ever having a symptom my heart stopped and I ended up with my pm. EP said those events and the stress of it along with the PTSD caused it, so be careful!
