Thrombosis After AV Node Ablation

I spent last evening in the ER, with a red, swollen and very sore leg. My leg has been minimally sore for four days but yesterday was much worse.

It's a thrombosis, a big one, one month post-op....unusual but obviously can happen.

I'm to return to the hospital today, for an ultrasound and doppler to see how "bad" the thrombosis is and to decide upon treatment.

Needless to say, this is a bit disheartening and frightening.

I hope that this is just a blip on my road to recovery but whatever the outcome, please never be afraid to have a pacemaker and/or whatever is needed to improve your quality of life.

After being debilitated by my AFib for many months, this last month has been fabulous!

Hoping to return to "fabulous" shortly....

Sorry to hear you've had a problem with a DVT, it IS a downer, especially when you're starting to feel better and adjusting to being "battery powered".

I had one show up in my left arm 1 week post-op and know it can really mess up your mood! It is frightening, but not as frightening as what could happen if it hadn't been found - at least you've caught it and it can now treated, so remember, you're still moving forward. It doesn't alter the progress you've made, it's just one more step to take.

Very sorry to hear about this setback Bionic Beat and sincerely hope they'll soon have you sorted out at the hospital. I think this is usually the case when they've located the problem and the medicine starts to reduce it. So disappointing for you when you've been feeling much better of late. However, this doesn't alter the fact that you're still feeling the benefit of the original surgery. Hang onto that nugget of comfort. Remember too, we all wish you well and look forward to hearing you're restored to health very soon. The beat goes on! All love, Wannabe

Turned out *not* to be a DVT, thank Heavens!

Yes, I had been on and off lovenox & warfarin between the surgeries and have been on coumadin since the second surgery.

We added aspirin before heading to the ER.

My GP, the ER physician and the on call for Cardiology, all felt that it was some sort of thrombosis.

It was a long night, waiting for the doppler but I was thrilled to hear that it was negative for DVT!!!

Took my pups for a short walk today, it's sore but I can stand that when I know it's not serious.

I think I feel "fabulous" coming on.......
