Wanted to introduce myself

My name is Kathryn and I am 32 years old. I had my PM installed November 2007 following the birth of my second child. During labor I went into heart failure and died. I remember hearing my child cry and that was last thing I heard. I was given atrophine to restart my heart and for a few months my heart would beat normal and then would drop in the 40s and then go back to normal. I had an EP study done and was told my only option was a PM. I never had a heart problem before this incident and the doctors do not think that pregnancy caused it but it might have taken my second pregnancy to make it surface. I do have a history of seizures that I had brain surgery to correct so I like to say that I am just one big electrical mishap!

SO glad that you found us. Welcome! You have found an awesome group of folks here. Please take note of the search function on the main page of the site, in the upper grey bar. Also the FAQ's on the left of the main page in red. If you can't locate what your looking for, please ask the group.

I see that you had your pacemaker implanted following the birth of your second child.. So already your experience will help the person who just posted about concerns with breast feeding and having a pacemaker.

Take care and welcome to the pacemaker club!

Answer to Blueaustrialia question

by kenslow - 2008-06-05 02:06:31

Hi, I had a right temporal lobotomy to remove my seizure focus. I am not sure what the exact name of the surgery is called but that is how it is listed in my medical records. I had mine done in 1991 at the age of 15 and I have not a seizure since, but I do have auras. I am not sure what type seizures your husband has but mine were complex partial and after extensive testing they found they orginiated in the right temporal lobe so they removed it. If you would like any more information feel free to email me at kenslow@hotmail.com.

I hope this helps

Kathryn
