Hope you are all well!! and behaving?!!
I am thinking of setting up some sort of support network at my local hospital. When I had Gerry fitted last year I had nobody local to chat with or visit..... apart from all you lovely guys on here.... which I always recommend to new patients by the way!!! As you all know, it is a very scary, depressing time and I think patients need a shoulder to cry on from time to time....and general meeting up locally and chatting.... I am sure my new pal Nellie would agree!
Anyway, I wanted to get your views on how best I could do this.... Please please can you offer ideas and advice so I can type a report and put it to one of the matrons in the heart ward.

Hey you lovely people! Thanks so much Sue, Tracey and Patch for your suggestions!
Hey Patch! I am already a volunteer in my hospital, I have been Police Checked and I have lots of contact with patients in the coronary care unit and another respiratory ward. All the nurses, and pacing clinic know me!! hense already referring a patient to me last week! I just need to reiterate to the director of cardilology how much we need some sort of group!!
Also thinking of getting a volunteer team to make up the soft pads that go under a ladies' bra strap to stop irritation on the wound. I can't find them in the uk - but you have Comfor her..... a pad with velcro selling for a crazy price of $20 !! I was hoping we could make something similar and donate them to ladies with new pacemakers and possibly cancer patients with chemotherapy ports. I was going to get the local high school to help with their sewing skills!!
Please keep giving me the ideas!! Thanks so much for your time!

I don't know how it works in UK but here we have privacy laws so that they could never give out a list of names of patients, so they'd have to come to you. You'll need to find a place to meet and pick a time, then make some flyers or brochures and ask the hospital, maybe the EP's, to hand them out.
