What is ERI mode? I'm new to Pacemaker Planet and still learning. Thanks.

//but will continue to operate normally except that the amplitude of pacing and or high voltage charge time on an ICD//

Didn't quite understand the above. "Except that the amplitude of pacing" does what?

Thank you.

ERI mode

The pacemaker enters this mode when the battery drops to some predetermined state, usually related to a projected 6 month remaining life. At this point most of the features of the pacemaker are shut down and pacing reverts to ventricular fixed rate at 65-70BPM to conserve battery life. The pacing level is NOT reduced because this threshold voltage is necessary to assure pacing occurs.

If you at all dependent on the pacemaker it should be replaced ASAP as there is no reliable way to know how long the battery will last.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
