Welcome to the club.....I am 47 on my 4th PM and come December will have everything removed leads and PM and implanted in a new spot...long story.

Hope your recovery goes well....and I truly hope you get back to work...I know being a firefighter there are restrictions....I hope you meet all your returning requirements...as Jessie suggested check out the search engine for firefighters...I know there are a few here with great questions and answers.

Best of luck!!! We need you!

Ditto on the welcome!

I live in Franklin and have had my PM for 2 years this month. I am 35 yrs old, so roughly the same age. It takes some adjustment for sure. I don't know what all brought on your need for a PM, but if you're going back to work as a firefighter that is a good sign for you. For me it was easier to get back into a routine than I thought, and you can do more with the PM than you think. Let me know if I can be helpful.

Welcome Fox!

Hello from Poole, U.K.

I am a 43 year old mum who was taken ill in July 08 and within a week and a half was having a P.M fitted !!!! Didn't even know I was ill !

The people on this site are absolutely wonderful and they can offer all sorts of advice - and I mean ANY!!! They are only an email away and seriously, I don't know what I would do without them especially the Pacer Chicks!!! Its ok chatting to your doctor/technician/nurse but what are the chances of them having a PM. Well, that said one of my tech guys has a PM !! I always prefer to talk to someone who knows EXACTLY what you are going through!

It's always interesting to know what other people go through and I think it makes us all a bit stronger - so even if you are having an 'off' day drop a note and you are sure to get some support!

Take care and hope to see you one day in Chat! (Chat Room can be quite quiet sometimes - but you can always leave a posting telling us all when you will be in there and we can try and catch up with you!)

Loopy Lou xx

I don't have much to add since everyone has given you good advice and summed up the benefit of this great site.

But, I will add a big WELCOME and tell you to feel free to ask any questions or tell us your concerns.

Take care,
Suze

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
