Life after pacemakers

Well, some my have noticed that I have not been very active her at the PaceMaker club recently. I have a good reason. I have been very busy making some changes in my life. An opportunity had presented it's self, a life changing opportunity and I had to make some serious decisions. A little bit about myself first... I have wanted to start my own business for a very long time.... Well, I have realized that dream! I have started my own business! When I had the emergency dual pacemaker implanted to save my life.... I really believed that I would never be the strong woman that I once was. Well, that isn't the case at all! I am once again on my way. It has been a difficult journey, but the excitement and the pleasure of being the smart, lively, passionate woman I was before my heart issues has retuned! I am alive and well and continuing to realize my dreams!

I will have to have my pacemaker replaced in less than a year... much earlier than predicted, but who cares... zip the old one out and zip the new one in.... after all I have a business to run!

For those whom have continued to encourage me through the ups and downs of living with a pacemaker... Thank you, your kindness will always be remembered.

I'm glad to hear you are getting on with life. Having run my own business since the 80's I can say it is very rewarding (and demanding).
One bit of insight that may help. It seems that it takes about 3 years before any business really gets moving. This is even true when a new owner buys a business.

I would like to say thank you to all! Each of your post has made me even more excited than before!
My business name is:

Susie's Works of Art. I manage an art gallery, do public speaking and all the graphic design work for my client, the Dr. I have always done promotion work, but now I will be doing it through my business name and not his. I have a home office and an office in town. I am so happy with this new challenge. Now to just make it grow! Thank you all for the good advice! I need it!!!!!

I believe that the only limits we have are the ones we place on ourselves. I am going for it! No limits. I can hardly wait and... Peter N. seems to need some money, so I better get busy! hee hee

Pacemaker site zipper

Now that's an idea..."zip the old one out and zip the new one in"...somebody needs to get to work on that - close the pacemaker incision with a zipper, and just unzip when it's time to repace it. Well, maybe not such a good idea; if I had a zipper, I'd be nosing around in there trying to see everything inside.

You were one of the first to answer my post after having my PM placed and experiencing a VERY scary bout of PVC's. Your response was so appreciated and I just wanted to thankyou again..I'm very happy that you have the "get-up-and-go" to realize your dream. I too am feeling better now after a rocky start and find I don't check in quite as much as I once did, so sorry this is a little late in coming. Seems alot of the folks that initially posted frequently don't seem to show up as much...I certainly hope that like you and me..they are now feeling better and moving forward. Again best wishes in all you do!!!!

Thank you for this post, it is really encouraging. I just returned to work this week and am looking forward to being the strong independent woman I was prior to Pace/Defib. I too share the dream of having my own business so this was very exciting to hear. It helps me look forward and know that things will get better. Good luck with your business.

Everyone, thank you again for your encouraging thoughts. There is life after pacemakers... and it is good. It might take some time, it certainly requires some changes, it can be scary but it is worth it all.

To Me&mybigheart.... keep your focus, you can do it too! If I can ever help anyone please just ask.... if I can, you know I will.
