New PM-Questions

I never had any of the pain medicine-just took aspirin. It was the first night that my arm was over my head-I now sleep with a sling. I am going to start walking some tomorrow and see how it goes.Thank you all for responding! Sarah

Sling

by PeggyR - 2008-12-15 03:12:48

I used the sling for the entire 6 weeks, at night time, as I also found myself waking up with arm up over my head. Didn't seem to cause me any problem sleeping, body just got used to it.
Good luck and take care,
Peggy

Just start off easy and enjoy.

I took my sling off at night right from the start. I didn't need in in bed and it just got in the way.

More on Sling

The sling can be a big help in supporting the arm while walking. The first thing I did was to go the the pharmacy and find a decent sling. The one the hospital gave me was useless and kept slipping off during walking. Feeling my arm start dropping and trying to catch it was worse than no sling at all.

The other thing I did was ask my wife to yell at me if I started to stretch while sitting in my favorite recliner. The lead must have been pretty well attached as I got in several good stretches when she wasn't in the room. Never seemed to do any harm.

I finished 29th in London in 2 hours 20 minutes 30 seconds which is my fastest with or without a device so clearly it didn’t slow me down ! I had no problems apart from some slight chaffing on my scar - more Vaseline next time.
