Over sensing??

Hi I'm new to the club and even though I have a medical background it helps to talk to others in my boat.
I have had a rather odd occurance. I went to England 2 weeks post placement to recoup. I was picked up at the airport and driven 45 minutes in little car, on windy roads with a manual transmission. By the time we arrived I was sure I was headed back to the ER. Cramp in my chest and short of breath. When I got out of the car, all symtoms were gone in about 10 minutes. They never happened again, until I got back in the car. I rode on the back of a Harley without incidence. So?????? Was is sensing some vibration in the car or electrical emission??
I got back to the states and it happen in my automatic car on our smooth roads. So, I went to get a pacer check and of course the sales rep said his equipment was perfect and there was nothing unusual...right..I told him he should bring his laptop and come with me in the car, of course they wouldn't.
The Dr had me wear a Holter monitor for 24 hours and told me to drive all over. Well wasn't that the day we had a blizzard and couldn't drive anywhere faster than 3 miles per hour.
At this point we are still unsure of what happens in a car.
Has anyone had any similar symtoms??
Thanks for reading.

Me, too

I had the same problem with cars. I had my rate response thingy turned down and haven't had a problem since. We are all different and so are our pacemakers. You will find out what settings are best for you as you go along. Never hold back from telling your concerns to you doctor. It's his job to listen and take action.

Let me welcome you to our club. You will like it here. Feel free to ask anything or just join in a discussion.

Take care,
Suze

rate response

Do you know if you have rate response turned on? It will pick up vibrations as well as movement. That's how it works- it senses when you are moving and raises your hr. But it's kind of weird to pick up the car but not the Harley! Can you get another Holter when the weather is cooperating?

Car vs Motorcycle

It may be due to the difference in how we ride in a car vs a motorcycle. In a car we are supported by the back of the seat which conducts the vibration directly into our back. With motorcycle the riders may sit on a seat without a back rest so the whole torso acts as a cushion between the vibration of the seat.

The rate response sensor is designed to sense certain frequencies of movement which are different in the two vehicle types.

Try using your thumb and index finger to manually vibrate the pacer at different rates. Sense of check your HR while you do this. You may be able to repeat the problem that way. I had problems with the jets in a hot tub causing my HR to soar. I got the same response as you at a checkup until I wiggled the pacer while I was hooked up.

You know you're wired when...

You forecast electrical storms better than the weather network.
