I'm scheduled in a few weeks to receive a pacemaker for the first time. I will attend a consultation to receive more details before the surgery. It's hard for me to take off work for a certain lenght of time. Can any one give me an idea of work missed for this surgery if any?

pains

I had a PM put in on July 18, 2012. My heart rate was very slow @ 30 to 35 most times and never over 58 with strenous exercise. When they did the dye test it showed that the front of my heart was abnormal and the EKG was Brady rate. I was having constant pain in chest and heaviness in left arm, tired all the time.

New to the club

I am so grateful I found the site. I have spent the last few hours reading post and have more peace of mind about what I am feeling and going through. So thank you. sleeplessness

After the implantation of my pacemaker, my surgeon set the pacing rate to 70 per minute. I could not sleep. At the followup meeting, I told my surgeon that I could not sleep and my heart rate before the implantation was 60 per minute. It was then reset to 60 and now, I am able to sleep. If you have the sleeping problem after the implantation, check with your doctor to find out your heart rate before the procedure and adjust it accordingly. It might solve your sleeplessness problem.

Feeling better


Hi, I am new here at the pm club, I just have my second pm last week. At this time, I am takeing it easy and calm. I was doing so bad, that now I thank to God that I am doing so well. One thing that is helping me is takeing multi-vitamin and rest for short periods of time. I am glad that I found this club.

Thursday is the day!

At long last the week for my pacer implant is here. I couldn't be more excited. My hr has been in the 40s for a week and I'm tired of feeling awful, not being able to drive and more.

tired

hi everyone! im am 24yrs old and have had my pacemaker for 3wks now.I have a 1yr old daughter and have to stay with my mom while I recover bc I cannot lift her and need help with everyday tasks.I thought that after my surgery I would have so much more energy since my resting rate before surgey was 35-40, but im still just as lazy and want to take cat naps as often as I can..Is this going to get better?.I am also a lover of outdoor activities I have a 4 wheeler and I am chomping at the bit to go...

New Defib

It's been a while since my old pacemaker was converted into a defibrillator on April 30th of this year. My question I would like to ask, is should I still have pain at the scar? It's been almost three months since the surgery, but is this normal? Any pressure at the scar area causes pain, and I am taking Tylenol like candy.

New Pacemaker

I just had my pacemaker installed on July 16 because of low heart rate and some pauses (sick sinus syndrome they said). I have been so looking forward to having more energy because I have been tired for so long and I was told the pacemaker would fix that. Missing beats

I have had my PM since May 18th, 2012. Once in a while I have a feeling I am going into Artial Fib. It just lasts for a second or two. Is this common or is it anything to be concered about? I go back to my PM doctor August 27 th for a 3 month checkup. It is extremly hot here and I have to stay in the house because of the extreme heat. need to vent......

I have been doing well,latley,atleast in my opinion.
But,a short time ago,I was overwhelmed with thoughts......
I havent worked full time in a month,therefore,no income,have to ask my husband for money for small things,and have to tell him he needs to pay bills,which I normally take care of,and cant,since Im not working.I hate this.Not that I make a ton of money,but a month off sure hurts the wallet,once again,hate this!

Post ICD implant swelling

Just had my ICD implanted on June 27, which is now over 3 weeks ago. The site has always been very swollen, but last week, when I visited the surgeon's office, his NP took out a stitch that was sticking out of the wound. That night, I awoke to discover that I was covered with old blood streaming from the wound. We were unable to stop it, so we went into the office. Ablation - the real scoop

Ok, I have posted before, recently. Give me the real scoop on Ablation. I feel like I need to have all the info, right now. Dr increased Toprol XL for the 3rd time because I have increased heart rate. Hi, I am a 39 year-old female who is having a pacemaker put in two weeks from today for bradycardia. I had gastric bypass surgery last November, and since then, my heart has been slowing down considerably. Surgery question

Hello to all:
I recently had to go in for a second PM surgery due to a "NOISE" malfunction. The surgery was scheduled to determine if the issue came from my leads or pacemaker. After troubleshooting, it was decided that my pacemaker was faulty, so they only replaced the Pacemaker. It appears that after the surgery I did not have a chest x-ray and unfortunatley, my leads where dislodged during the surgery and I was sent home. We discovered this about a week later.

just shy of 2 weeks.....

Have some more questions..........
PM in July 2nd.Went into ER July 12 for irregular HR,stayed overnight,monitoring.
Saw a local Card the next am,and he ordered the Medtronic tech to come and do a reading.After that,DR had tech set PM so top and bottom leads work symetrically,as they were not programmed tht was initially.
PM working 9% and alls well,DR also presc.50 mg once a day of metropolol(sp?) to help,have taked 2 so far and seem better.
