Taking a hiatus

Okay everyone... What I really need is to unplug from the heart thing for awhile. It's Christmas time and I want to enjoy it fully. I can't do that if I'm talking about this stuff all the time. I'm going to do my best to put it on the back burner for awhile. That's not to say I won't be reading or responding to comments or messages, it just means that I'm going to attempt to stay clear of the serious stuff for a bit. I need peace. I need hope.

News from Doctor today

Well, you all were right. R2D2 saved my life last week. The doc said I wouldn't have survived that episode without it. Something about a heart rate of 260+ and how my difibrillator did exactly what it was supposed to.

What I find frustrating is that none of my doctors have seemed really all that concerned about my  heart condition. The only person that looked pretty worried was that nice lady that does my echo every six months. She told me that more than likely I wouldn&#...

A big thank you!

I just want to start by saying I don't honestly know what I would do without the support and kindness of the club members here. This journey is difficult and scary, it's demanding and there is very little satisfaction from searching the internet for answers to our questions. I mean, let's face it: what we really want to hear about is other people's experiences, not our doctor's automated responses based on internet statistics. Not that all doctors are that way. But wi...

AV node ablation

Hi all

I'm wondering if anyone has experience of having an AV node ablation and if so what was your experience?? I 've  had my PM now for 3months because of permanent AF. And this ablation is being discussed but I am unsure what to do.

Any thoughts  welcome

Pacing has increased very quickly

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and happy and getting on okay with your devices.

I have 2nd degree type 2 heart block and had my pacemaker implated 6 years ago. When I first received it I hardly needed it and used it 1% of the time.  Fast forward 6 years and to my check up yesterday I am now on 90%.  This year I have have actually had a vast increase in use starting in January at 50% and ending December on 90%.

My cardiologist is now doing various tests tha...

Turning off defibrillator inquiry

Edit: Thanks to so many of you that have given such helpful input, I've decided to not mention turning off my defibrillator. Read on if you want to see why.

Let me just specify something first. I have never had an issue with my heart beating too fast. According to everything I've learned so far about the defibrillator, it's designed to stop your heart from dangerous episodes of (forgive the lack of technical words here) your heart beating too fast, out of contro...

Feeling beats from pacemaker

Hello, 3 years ago my wife was fitted with a two-wire pacemaker due to AV Block. My wife also uses concor or tenoretic because she has tachycardia arrhythmia. AV Block condition was more evident under medication. We have been experiencing the removal of AV Block for 6 months. This time, while the heart is beating normally, the pacemaker sometimes comes into play. My wife feels the pacemaker beats very strongly. When my wife takes medication, her pacemaker works more actively. I would be very...

After shock, is it possible?

Okay... I realize the mind does some pretty sketchy things when it comes to stress and anxiety and I'm no exception to that rule. I've been described as someone who over thinks everything and analyzes things to death but I prefer to call it sufficiently researching and thoroughly thinking things through. But since my shock last Monday, I immediately (within a day or two) felt as though my device had moved and that my scar tissue that had been forming was somehow displaced or jarred lo...

Sleep In Relation to Overall Heart Health

Hey all, This is more of an advice/consern seeking post, than a question. I am currently in the middle of finals week at university, and I haven't been sleeping the reccomended 7-8 hours. From past experiences, I know that a decline in sleeop, paired with an increase in caffine is a recipie for disaster and tachycardia. However, I want to pass with good grades. Therefore, my predicament is deciding if I should stay up and study, or just go to bed. Additionally, does anyone know if it...

Private message notifications

Morning everyone

I really must apologise to all those who have sent private messages recently and wondering why I haven't answered.

Quite simply I never had any notifications.

I was also wondering why I hadn't heard from people.

I used to rely on the email notifications of private messages but I won't any more.

I haven't been fully well the last week with a heavy cold so haven't been looking into the message section as much as usual.

update to spine surgery

Just wanted to update my previous spine progrosis.  Just saw a second opinion Spine Doctor.  This one said no to surgery until i correct my underlining problem of Osteoporosis  That if he puts the glue in one fracture.  Another fracture can occur and more glue.  Plus he thought i might be allergic to the glue used.

Said i should see an Endrocronologist or a Rheumatologist.  Also said their might be new drug or something that could help me grow bone.

MyCareLink Heart App

I had my pacer implanted in 2021. I use MyCareLink Heart as my remote tracker anyone else out there tha uses the same App on there iPhone. The app does for the most part work well but I do have one problem. On the dashboard of the app the is a tile for physical activity. It tracks for daily weekly and monthly. My problem is every 2-3 weeks it will go blank and after a day or 2 comes back. I like to see it and trust it. My fear is if it goes blank how am I to know the rest of the apps working....

Increase in atrial pacing

Hello, I had a 6 month pacemaker check back on October 5th. My atrial pacing had gone from 12% to 25% in that 6 month. However my bigger concern is the check I had today showed an increase from 25% to 48% in just under 2 months. I have not had any change in settings. I do have increased shortness of breath and tiredness. I plan on talking with my cardiologist soon but wanted to ask if anyone has experienced anything like this and what might have caused it. I feel like something isn't righ...
