Body Image

Hello! I have recently had my first replacement surgery to fit a dual lead pm and the box seems extremely visible which i'm really disappointed about. I wasn't told this would be the case prior to surgery (my previous pm was under the muscle and entirely non-visible - except the scar) so i'm finding it a bit upsetting and hard to accept.

I have discussed this with my pm tech but I live in Scotland and everything is on the NHS so it's not something the...

Pacemaker and afib

I had a pacemaker installed in May 2020.  Felt so good. Still was going in and out of afib for a day or two but not feeling bad.  Recently I have been in afib for over 3 weeks and feel lousy. . .tired, shortness of breath.  Had an echocardiogram Monday to see if things have changed since the last one a year ago.  EP is suggesting a cardio version to get me out of afib.  So discouraged after feeling so great since I got the pacemaker--a Biotronic.

Heart function

Hey All,
So I am a63 year old female and got my dual chamber pacemaker in 2014 when I was 57. The past 19 months have been insanely stressful as my younger sister had a brain aneurysm burst,  followed by a massive stroke. During that time I was making the 2-1/2 hour trip plus a 1/2-hour ferry ride (each way) running back and forth between where I live northwest of Seattle and the hospital 1 to 2 times a week. Long story but she was stuck in the hospital for 11 mo...

HaPpY bIRtHdAy Walter

So 4 years ago today I received my life back by getting my pacemaker AKA Walter.  Yes I named my pacemaker because he takes care of me so I just had to make it more personal.

So on this day I like to celebrate my receiving my pacemaker and always will.   I tell people all the time I love Walter and I truly mean it.    I remember being scared of having the surgery mainly I think of being woken up to disapointment of still feeling bad but oh my goodness the change has...

so is it normal to feel like this

So I gotta admit since I got the pacemaker in early June I've -- and i'm sure this is no surprise -- been super paranoid about cardiac things in general. That said, I did the 3-month checkup, everything was fine and all I needed was a cupla software tweaks.

So all had been fine -- been out bicycling and carrying on as normal.

But this week has sucked -- I made the mistake of watching the debate tuesday evening and had to quit because my chest was thumping, i was sweating,...

Fatigued

Hello pacers, I have been feeling very fatigued and winded 2 ever since I had  a pacemaker implant. I thought initially it may have been the side effects of the surgery itself then as it continued on I thought perhaps it's the medication. I persevered and now  that I'm off all meds including no blood thinners, I still feel night quite right. Does anyone else feel the same symptoms and know the reason for this trigger ? Many thanks Loulou. 🙏🌸

PM for Bradycardia, exhaustion, mental fog

Hello all,

I'm hoping to get some advice regarding my bradycardia. A little background...

I'm 50-yrs old, 5'6", about 135 lbs. All my life, my HR has been a bit on the low side, but was chalked up to me being a competitive swimmer. I'm no longer what you would call an "elite" athlete by any means. I did swim in the summer, and would swim about 3x/week (about 2 miles per swim). However, I don't swim any other time of year. I try to go for walks wh...

COPD and my PM

Although I have a long list of health issues, other than my heart, the most pressing is the COPD. I just learned a lesson that may be useful to others. I use a Trelegy inhaler once a day and it works quite well. Then Monday when I used it I noticed that I did not seem to taste the powder as before, but just figured I was getting used to it. Yesterday it was like I simply inhaled air. I wear a smartwatch and frequently check my HR. I noticed early in the day that my HR was elevated between the...

Recently advised pacemaker for Bradycardia

Hello -

I am a very healthy & active 68 year old male dentist. I was recently advised to get a pacemaker for Bradycardia. I had absolutely no symptoms but heart rate would constantly come up as low as 35 on physical exams. I was given a holter monitor for 24 hours and later told there is a complete AV block. Heart muscles are otherwise healthy as evidenced by an echocardiogram done today.  Very ambivalent about the pacemaker. What should I do?

Subclavian DVT

Hi everyone! I have a brand new Medtronic Azure pacer,  two weeks old today.  And today, his ugly stepsister showed up in the form of a DVT in my arm. So I'm panicking a little bit. Went to the ER first thing and they confirmed what I thought.  They put me on xarelto and I went home.  I've had a big anxiety problem since all this started in Feb this year and today, it's been really bad.

Anyone else have issues with left arm clot...

ICD

My hubby is 72 had ICD just put in 4 days ago. He is left handed so it is on right side for convenience.  I know everyone is different and it takes time but do you honestly feel better, or notice any change. He has been so worn down and exhausted for so long, I don't think he is seeing alot of light at the end of tunnel.  Also like alot of men he wants results now, patience is needed.

Do you know what I'm saying. Any words of advice

Just Joined the Club.

Hello, everyone. I'm 38 and I was diagnosed with Nonischemic Congestive Cardiomyopathy in 2019, and I received my 3 lead CRT-D implant about 6 weeks ago. I do not personally know anybody with a pacemaker, much less someone my own age, so I joined this forum today in hopes of maybe finding some information, and/or comfort, to help me wrap my brain around everything.

On one hand, I feel better than I have in *years*. My ejection fraction has been 20-25...

Pacemaker dependent

Hi, new here, just found the group. I had a pacemaker installed almost 2 years ago. I was involved in a car accident that resulted in my Tricuspid value tearing. As a result a growth started to form in my Rt ventrical around the valve which started to cause serious PVC's which was found after a life scan. I was told I was lucky they found it and that usually these things dont end well. Anyways, I had some complications with my distolic rate when they took the growth out and replaced the v...

Hi

Im so happy I have found this group, this is truly amazing 😉

I've had a CRT-P fitted 12 days ago and have notice these last 3 days that my heart rate is pacing up 120bpm on basic walking around without strenuous activity. My device has been set to 70bpm so when I'm walking it does feel uncomfortable as I can feel my heart pounding away.

is this normal?

Fourth Day Pacemaker

I am not sure if what I am feeling is real or not. I seem to have a lot of tightness in my neck muscles mostly on the side of the pacemaker. A hollow sensation in the middle of my chest, headaches, and I have no energy.

I have expressed these concerns to my physicians's nurse, not sure if the information is getting to the doctor. the nurse doesn't seem concerned. Should I be?

The pacer systems are really very reliable. The main problem is the incompetent programming of them. If yours is working well for you, get on with life and enjoy it. You probably are more at risk of problems with a valve job than the pacer.
