Auntie's Recovery

I posted the other day on something that took the family by storm. My auntie had a acute heart attack. She was sweating and her chest was hurting so bad. She couldn't go up the stairs and decided to call her son to take her to the hospital. After taking her to the hospital they did and EKG and the nurse ripped the paper out of the EKG machine and took off out of the room. My cousin was a bit confused and frighten. Few minutes later and they rushed her to the back and gave her a room. Righ...

WAKING UP AT NIGHT

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad I discovered this site. I have an 18 month old who had a pacemaker implanted 2 months after he was born due to complete heart block -atrioventricular. As he's growing he seems to be having less complete night sleep as he wakes up about the same time almost every night (between 3 and 3:45AM), kicking, stretching forcefully, and upset. He still tries to go to sleep as you can see he's loving his night rest but something is bothering him. I don't understand why t...

weird sensations

Hello everyone:
I had my PM implanted in 2004. For the last 3 months, or so,
I 've been feeling when the heart is stimulated and I feel the shock going up to my throat and short of breath for a couple of seconds. I don't feel dizzy or fainting. Has anyone experience these sensations ?
Thanks,

update update

Ok, it's a day after my dr visit and at work I have gotten this dizzy spell where I got hot and tingly(I knew it could go south fast lol). The school nurse said my bp was normal. So I'm wondering is this my heart at all?
My doctor put me on Paxil the week before I got the pm. He was thinking the sympoms I was having may have been stress but now I know it was the bradychardia. I'm still taking the paxil. But I'm wondering if anyone else has ever had boughts of dizziness and tingling t...

Need Helpfor my Mom/80 years old

My mom is 80 years old, and went to the dr complaining of fatigue and heart palpitations. Two weeks later, after a Holder monitor, we were told she needed a pacemaker because her heart was beating too slow, caused by faulty electrical action of her heart. She had a st. judge dual chamber installed mid-March. She seems to be feeling a lot worse, not better. The fatigue and now, depression, are extreme.

We were told by the doctors on Friday (April 26) that they had never heard t...

ideas?

Hello all,
I had another event today where I felt dizzy. I have a dual chamber medtronic pm for bradycardia, it only works when my bpm get below 60. I've had 3 real good weeks. I'm not sure why but the last few days I have been feeling like I'm not all there. A little light headed at times. Yesterday, out of the blue I had a wave of numbness come over me and I felt hot. The lightheadedness continued today. After work I went for a run and after 15 minutes I stopped because I was getti...

Problems in the cold

I am a first time poster and I very pleased to find such a helpful site. I have had a dual unit medtronic defibrillator since September 2002. I look forward to sharing some of my experiences with others, particularly those new to the procedure. For now I need to find out if others are having the same problems as I am.

My experience with the defibrillator has genearlly been very positive after I got over some very long and painful left arm and chest pain issues post surgery (6 mon...

Hey gang

Hi everybody,
I just had an ICD implanted for the first time last week. I heard about this site and thought it would be nice to be in touch with folks with similar experiences. So far my chest is a little achey from getting a piece of technology lodged in it but apart from that I'm feeling good and looking forward to worrying a little less about my rebellious heart giving me trouble at inoportune times. I just wanted to say hi to everybody. So.."Hi!"

Cheers-

MEDTRONIC KAPPA 700DR

Hello to all and I hope your pacemakers are doing their job. I have a Kappa 700DR and I've never had a problem with this model. I know that your putting this information about lawsuit and defective pacemakers to inform others and I'm sure it's for a good cause, but you have to keep in mind that there are a lot of young pacers that just received their pacemakers. Many of them are pretty upset by the fact of having a pacemaker implanted. Their anxiety level must be really high and they probab...

told i need a pacemaker - update

Well I got my records today from my cardiologist and had plans to send them to the Cleveland clinic but that was stopped when I saw another doctor who recommended an exceptional EP doctor in my area.

He also told me that he doesn't believe he would recommend anything different since after looking at my records further(for the holter monitor) we found out that I had bouts of 2nd degree "high grade" av block between 2am and 6am...nothing at all showed during the day. Those were the 3 s...

Told I need a pacemaker

Good day to all...this is my first posting and is going to be tough as I am shedding tears as I write this because I cannot wrap my head around the fact that I am a 36 year old male, in great physical condition, extremely active and have just been told I need a pacemaker because my heart rate droped to 20 beats per minute at night( Holter showed some times of 3 seconds between beats).

What I just cant understand is that during the daytime and during phisical activity everything is co...

I'M OUT OF THE HOSPITAL

Hello my friends,

I hope your okay and living a better life then me. I miss all of you in here. I'm thanking God for our brothers for stepping up to the plate and sharing their feelings. I hope all men respond not only to the women but also to their brothers in here. I just got out of the hospital and I've had all testes done. I'm not having a heart attack but they can't figure out what's going on with my symptoms. I wish I was a millionaire so I can bribe them to find a pro...

how do you deal with shoulder seat belt irritation

I would appreciate hearing from those who have solved the shoulder seat belt problem. Who can I go to to have the shoulder strap moved so that it does not hit the site. Also, the wires of my pacemaker got tangled and push my skin out about 1/4 of an inch which is very sensitive and uncomfortable. Has anyone dealt with this kind of problem? Thank you. Shelly

Sometimes a device must be tuned a few times before it is right. My cardiologist said it is like fine tuning a car.
