I got in pacemaker 10/09 after a heart attack and surgery resulted in 4th degree blocks. I seemed to be doing well, exercising daily except for the occasional episode. The first time it happened my little dog was in trouble and I got up from sitting, ran to a high fence and climbed it. That was 8 weeks post surgery.
Generally it will happen if I push myself exercising though lately it has happened when I get up at night.
It comes on suddenly though I have a sense it is com...

Hi all! I am new to the club, but very encouraged by all of the support I have seen on the website! I need some help/advice. I am 29 and had a dual-chamber pacemaker put in 7 weeks ago. I had bradycardia and had fatigue/weakness and a few episodes pre-pacemaker. Now I am more tired, I have ten times more episodes now, I have the shakes, and most importantly I have had to pull over to the side of the highway going 70 miles an hour almost passing out with my 18 month old in the car!!!!!! I am scar...

advice needed! I had my second pacemaker place 1/22/09. sent the next 7 weeks at dr appts b/c of incision infection, the stitches inside raising to the top thru my incision and needing to be pulled out multiple time. finally got the ok from dr and spent a blissful 2 weeks not going to the dr. All throughout I kept telling Doc it feels like pacer moving. He listened but said it was probably due to swelling etc.... and no cause for concern. NOW swelling is gone and pm is lower in my chest an...

Hi, I just wanted to say how thankful I am to happen upon this site. I have found answers to so many questions by just using the search here. You are all so wonderful to share. I am new to this but you are helping me to adjust just by being here and sharing your experiences. I am 52yo and I feel so encouraged from reading your posts. Having a PM (4/16/09) is an adjustment but because of this site I am sure that I will adjust just fine. It helps to realize that others have had the same issues an...

This is my first posting, and I'm not to sure how this works but I'm hoping to get feed back or just more knowledge on pacemakers work or have worked for other people. I have had my pacer since December of 2008. I am 40 years old and I have had a hard time with this, because it had really change everything that I do. I am used to doing everything and I have had to slow down because I dont have the energy for much, I keep having episodes and they cant seem to adjust it right...I'm just confused...

Hi Everyone,
I am glad I found this site. I had my dual chamber PM placed 4/16/09 and on 4/17 was told the bottom lead had moved.
I was wondering if the second surgery will be worse since it will still be tender when they fix it. I was told they will call to let me know when they will correct this, it may be in a week or two.
They have turned off the current to the misplaced lead. I feel so much better now that my pulse is 60, it is hard to think about having to have another surg...

I have had chest and left arm pain and irritation for less than a week straight. The pain is hard to describe but it just feels sort of almost numbing or dull. I had my pacemaker put in late last year. It has never done this before. Wondering if anyone had this happen. I have been so run down that I just feel like passing out all the time as of late.

I had my pacemaker fitted last year (June)for a moderate heart block.I was active and played sports, so this came as a shock,
Unfortunately following the implant I developed reactive pericarditis 5 days after implant. This was successfully treated with painkillers and anti-inflammatories. Since last summer the implant site has never settled and has always been moderately uncomfortable.
I play golf a couple of times a week, but afterwards feel tired and the site is sore.

I don't feel up to writing all of my friends individually so I'll just send a blanket update to all.
Despite my recent hospitilization and DC cardioversion, I woke up this morning in high rate flutter again.
My local cardiologist is at the beach, my primary physician is in South Carolina, and my EP from ATL is in Augusta, GA, at the Masters. Just my luck.....it's spring break in my neck of the woods.
Needless to say, I have no idea what's next. My EP's nurse is pretty much convinc...

I've had this pacemaker for 5 weeks, after 2 weeks a lot of blood and pus(sorry) blew out of my incision site.I went to our ER and after 41/2 hrs they sent me home and said if it gets worst come back. The ER Dr. said my blood work came back good straight down the line, I told him no one took any blood, he said I could be admitted but I would be more comfortable at home.I went home! I have been sick feeling since and this PM feels like its burning a whole in me. I am sick and tired of being sick a...

Well, I'm beginning to wonder if Georgia weeps in sympathy and timing with my heart......LOL.
Eversince my ablation, my rhythm/rate has been horrible. My right atrium is so "angry" that it's causing havoc to the entire southern region.
I seriously don't know how much of this I can take. I know the doc said that it would be 6-8 weeks for things to settle down, but I'm beginning to wonder if this last (4th) ablation did more harm than good. It sure seems like I'm starting back from groun...

Ok all... I have been in the hospital since 3/28..I no longer have a pacer it was removed on Friday. All that swelling was a STAPH infection growing. I am recieving VANCOmyacin 3 times day thru IV. My "wound" is open and being packed and changed 2 times a day. Tomorrow i will recieve a PIC line and hopefully be sent home with visiting nurses. I will maybe recieve a new pacemaker in month implanted on the right side. I had to literally fight with my doctor to get this thing removed. I was in so...

Hi. I've had my pacemaker about 8 months now. Had very infrequent PVCs for years - maybe once or twice a year? Now I get them more often and a lot during the day for the last couple weeks.
I am going to my cardio in 2 weeks and will tell him about it. I do my "over the phone" pacemaker check in a week and I guess if anything is wrong, I will hear pronto.
The only med I am on is a 40 mg. cholestrol pill that I've been on for years and 5 mg. of Plendil generic (that I j...

Hi,
Since my last post, I have had more issues. My cardiologist sent me to my pulmonary doctor because he believes that my SOB, palps & dizziness might be pulmonary related (even though I had 2 PFT's - 1 in 2001 & 1 last year - that showed my lung function to be ok, not great but ok with no change in numbers at all). So I went to see him again because I want to feel better somehow - willing to do anything. We did another PFT which actually showed a slight improvement in my lung fun...
