shoulder pain

I am a physical therapist with a pt that I am seeing for a second time for shoulder pain, but it is evident that her pain stems from her PM, as it moves with her shoulder, it seems to be adhered to the pectoralis muscle. The stretches and moist heat help but the relief tends to be temporary and the pain never goes completely away. Does anyone have any suggestions, any stretches? I am at the point of asking my pt to consider a second medical opinion since her MD wants to ignore the problem. I ha...

new ICD for diaphragm pacing

I wanted to post this to update everyone on my diaphragm pacing issue.

After a year of x-rays, CTs and an uninformed cardiologist, I finally found out that the thumping in my left abdomen was a condition called diaphragm pacing. The lead in my ventricle was unfortunately placed so that the electrical impulse required to pace my heart was bleeding through and either stimulating my left phrenic nerve or my diaphragm directly causing this non-threatening but definitely quality of life d...

help needed to alleviate stress about pocket change of PM

I have put myself into such a state of anxiety.
I decided to have a new pocket done for my PM.
The battery change done in Feb. has caused some issues.
I feel and see the protrusion of the lead, the skin over the PM is tender, the PM seems to fall to the left when I sleep. The procedure is scheduled for Friday but now I am thinking I should cancel. The Dr. states the PM is functioning and that my decision should be one of quality of life...
I am now thinking I should not go...

Pacemaker & Dizziness

Hi
I had a pacemaker put in about a month ago. I was down to 29 beats per minute so they figured it was time. I had an ascending aortic aneurysm repaired in 2001.
Still don't feel so good. Dizziness/lightheadedness every once in a while. Fluttering of the heatbeat. On top of that, I have had diarrhea and a headache. I was place on Metroprolol after the pacemaker, but the doctor took me off after I complaining how I felt. Still do not feel much better.
I am lost. I just want to f...

this is odd!! lol

Okay so its been a couple of weeks since my last post. I have a big ?. I went to the ep doc last week. He let me know that I am now 100% dependant on my pacemaker. Is this normal? I mean i knew going into it that the pm is here to help me but that kinda scares me. I mean to think i am a 22 year old and my heart nolonger works on its own? I guess its just hard to let that soak in. Is it normal for me to be tired again. The doc said my body would adjust. How long will that take? Its just so odd for...

pacemaker change

Hi

Just wondering if anyone else here is in a similar situation to me.

I was really poorly in 2002, my heart failed and i was on ICU. Dialated Cardiomyopathy was the diagnosis i was given. Leter that year i had two ablation procedures performed but to no success. I actually ended up with burns on my back - has this happened to anyone? I then had my pacemaker fitted. I work in a hospital and see my technician around quite regularly, on thw wednesday i asked when she thought...

Very Concerned Daughter...

Good Morning,

My father had a two-lead pacemaker (defibrillator) by Medtronic placed Tuesday, July 1st. Still today, he has a half-baseball sized swollen area, terribly large black/blue bruising over his entire left chest, pressure and more difficulty breathing when in a laying position, pain, and is losing ground.

He went to the cardiologist and was checked on the 14th. He was not the cardiologist who inserted it, but looked at a CAT scan taken on the 11th and found n...

Cannot make a decision

I am so nervous about my decision to have a replacement for the PM just put in February 2008 or to leave it alone.
The PM was larger, does not sit right in the pocket, leads felt and outlined in chest, floating PM to under arm.
I thought everything would be the same as when the first PM was installed without incident.
The original surgeon stated he would reposition the pocket, put leads under the PM and make me more comfortable.
It is driving me crazy to think about going th...

acid reflux

Hey gang! New to the world of PM, Just had installed last Friday. I am 42, in shape but was always tired and winded.Had a tilt table test done on Tues.July 8 and my heart stopped for a full 22 seconds. Now that I have the PM, I have had a severe case of acid reflux. Talked to the cardiologist about it today and all he could suggest is that I developed it all of a sudden magically! I have been on Nexium for sometime, but he put me on Keflex to keep away infection while in the hospital. Then he su...

Worried about my decision

I must make a decision as to have the pacemaker that I had a battery changeout on Feb 2008 to be replaced with a smaller one, repositioned, leads tucked under and with the pocket to be stitched properly or to leave it alone. As it is now, it floats to under my arm and the lead is poking my skin. I have pain if I sleep on the left side or after exercise. I just don't know what to do.
Any one have any suggestions?

Pacer moving?

Thanks to all of you for your support. I called my cardio's office and talked to the nurse. She said that leads come in all different lengths and what is left after they hook up the pacemaker to it is curled up behind the pacemaker. She said that sometimes they can come uncurled and start moving about. She said for me to watch that area of skin under my arm and if it starts turning red or breaking down before I come into the office next month to come on in but as of now there is no real danger,...

Once again...

Sorry, I hope I am not irritating you guys but recently I posted that I thought my pacer was moving. Well, while I was bathing this evening I think, no I'm sure, I have found what it was in my armpit that has been bugging me. It feels like a wire! I had my husband to feel of it as well. He didn't really know what it was he was feeling, he was just going by what I said. When he ran his finger over it lightly, I told him when to stop and then he felt it. I didn't mess with it though, I don't want...

Hi I have had my pm for 11years. At times it does feel like it is moving. Sometimes the pocket tissue loosens up. Try not laying on the side at nite. It cant come out from what I have read and asked. It just kinda slides alittle and if I lay on my left side too long at nite,I does feel different in the morning. I hope this helps.

Pacemaker moving ???

I recently posted a message about wondering if my pacemaker has moved or trying to move into my armpit. Thank you for the comments but I have had this one for approximately 2 years, it's been in there for awhile. Can they still move on you even if you have had them for that long? I am very concerned about this. Thank you.

Pacie
